Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport

The covers – and the roof – have come off the latest Bugatti Veyron. This is the new Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport, a targa-top version of infamous 987bhp supercar. Details are still scant, Bugatti remaining tight-lipped until the car is officially unveiled later this month at the Pebble Beach Concourse d'Elegance.

A few changes and tweaks are obvious though. For a start - if you hadn’t noticed already - the roof panel lifts out. And while it may appear opaque, it is in fact a clear panel. Bugatti claims ‘innovative structural solutions’ take care of any potential wobbles. Daytime LED running lights are also new, plus we’ve been told the air intakes for the quad-turbo W16 engine have been revised to deal with the open-top Grand Sport's new aerodynamics.

There’s no word yet on whether the Grand Sport will form part of Bugatti’s promised run of 300 Veyrons, or how much the new car will cost. The first model off the Molsheim line will be expensive though, as it will be auctioned at Pebble Beach.

This is nice - the Veyron will cost you a million dollars to buy but Bugatti will help you save a few bucks on insurance by adding DRL's!
Learned this trick from Audi, perhaps?

I guess this is the "secret car that we're not allowed to film" that Tiff Needell kept referring to while filming inside the Veyron factory in one of the Fifth Gear episodes.

Looks more impressive than the normal sports car.
I hope it could go faster than its cousin.

A drop top Veyron !!!! Nice. And the single tone paint job looks great too. So how much more do I pay for this topless beauty?

Sweet !! The truth is, though, the Veyron is becoming a bit of a Ford Escort with all the limited editions and exclusives !!

Daytime running lights are mandatory in Canada, so it looks like Bugatti is finally getting serious about this country.

And I thought the brake power output was 1001 bhp, not 987.
Not that it matters much.

Exactly what I was about to post - was it tuned down to 987bhp from the initial 1001?

Talking of this car will always remind me of this:

When getting close to the top speed during the test he said that "the tires will only last for about fifteen minutes, but it's okay because the fuel runs out in twelve minutes."

But isn't the Veyron's specs already given in HP, as in 1001 HP?

Wow! It does look great with the panoramic roof and sans the two-tone paintjob.
