Speeding biker in YouTube video jailed

Quote:
A motorcyclist who posted a video on the Internet of him riding at speeds up to 130 miles per hour (208 kilometres per hour) and doing dangerous stunts in Britain was jailed for 12 weeks on Monday.
A clip posted on video-sharing website YouTube showed 28-year-old Sandor Ferenci performing a variety of motorcycle tricks, including wheelies and skids, on his Yamaha R6 bike as well as racing on the wrong side of the road near Oxford, central England, in June.
Prosecutors said a motorist who observed Ferenci's stunts took down his registration number and passed it to police, who traced him to his home.
When officers arrived to question him, at the time unaware of the Internet clip, Ferenci immediately asked: "Is this about the YouTube video?"
Police then viewed the footage, filmed by a friend from various angles, which showed Ferenci performing skids, wheelies, wheelspins, causing the tyres to smoke and driving at excessive speeds.
Though prosecutors were not able to specify the maximum speed he had driven at, they estimated he may have reached speeds of up to 130 miles per hour.
Judge Terence Maher told Ferenci, who works as a caregiver for an elderly woman, that he posed a risk both to himself and other road users, adding that the 12-week sentence was intended to send a message that "if you drive in this way and are caught, serious consequences will follow."
In addition to the jail sentence, Ferenci, who pleaded guilty to two counts of dangerous driving, was also barred from driving for two years and told he would have to take an extended driving test before he is allowed on the road again.

Not the first time. A Japanese dude got jailed in the nineties for topping his Ferrari F50 out on public roads. And then circulating a video all over the internet! I suppose it wouldn't be too hard to find a red F50 in Tokyo.

Spoilt kids on western roads do get routinely pulled up for speeding or driving dangerously in cities. I have seen several youngsters in sports cars being pulled up by police in Albert Park, Melbourne for speeding. Albert Park is the F1 venue in Melbourne and is also a part of the city's main road network and lot of spoilt brats take their sports cars there and speed.
But getting caught due to a youtube post and then being punished by a court of law is something different and commendable. Can happen only in a developed nation. We should stop comparing ourselves with the developed world.

Yeah it was the F40, and guess what? The guy driving it was the owner of a Ferrari dealership in Japan and wanted to prove how the F40 was really capable of breaching the 200mph mark in reality, on the Wangan.

F40, I think he made video copies and got caught when he sold one to a cop. Seen the video, pretty serious speeds he was doing.
