*Free Test Drive*3 Years Warranty or 60,000 kms whichever comes first*

That car looks good but diesnt look like a original design. They are coming up real good in the manufacturing sector. but sadly the chinese themselves have spoilt their name by loking to mass produce components at a cheaper price. Their name has sort of become synonymous with Cheap and Unreliable. A lot of business customers we have refuse to source from china bcas of the same reason.

1960's = No ways will the Japanese ever make it...their cars are too cheap, unreliable and basic in engineering / design.

20 years down the line

1980's = No ways will the Koreans make it, their cars are too cheap, unreliable and basic in engineering / design.

2000's = No ways will the Chinese make it. Their cars are too cheap, unreliable and basic in engineering / design.

Price?

At about Rs. 12 per UAE Dirham, the price of 23000 Dhs comes to about Rs 2,76,000.

For a 1.1 litre, 4 seater, 64 hp <Santro, Zen, Wagon R segment car> that's not too cheap. Or am I missing something here?

What's the import duty for UAE? And what would be the costs if there were a SKU or CKU Lobo from India?

The vehicle looks neat though? Unlike a frog trying to look handsome - Santro! The triangular theme is radical, but might draw mixed reactions.

None of the smaller cars are cheap here - it gets better as you go up the value chain and get an accord for about 7 lakhs and a camry for about 9.

Firstly, there isnt a great market for small cars so the distributors dont have the economies of scale for a small-margin-high-volume activity.

This car is probably sold for less than the equivalent of 1.5 lakhs in China, for all you know. FYI, the Kia Picanto which is a Santro Xing with a different grille sells for about 27,000 Dhs. The Getz for slightly more. So it doesnt make sense to buy a small car here.

Well said. Look forward to the time when they say the same about Indian cars. Wonder if there will be any 'Indian' manufacturer other than Tata, though...

At least they make their own cars.

Didnt somebody get you an iPod from KL recently? Check where its manufactured - it will either have a Made in China sticker or the components are made in China.

Check laptops, digital cameras, mobilephones or most other electronics - they are all labelled HP or Compaq or Sony Ericsson or Canon but made in China.

I guess if the car was made in China and labelled Fiat it wouldnt have been so unappealing...
