Tata Consultancy Services Technology Partner For Ducati

Another major feat by TCS after the Ferrari deal:

Quote:
Tata Consultancy Services, a leading IT services, business solutions and outsourcing firm, announced that it has been named Technology Partner of Ducati Motor Holding Spa, the leading manufacturer of motorbikes and superbikes based out of Bologna, Italy.

TCS has signed a multi-million dollar, multi-year agreement with Ducati to deliver technology-based services that will help improve customer responsiveness and business efficiency. Ducati CEO & President Mr. Gabriele Del Torchio has come to India to kick-start this strategic relationship.

As a first assignment TCS has been awarded an ERP engagement for Ducati Motor Holding and its subsidiaries in Europe. TCS partnered with KPMG Advisory Italy for this assignment. KPMG would bring their local market competencies while TCS will bring its Global Network Delivery Model (GNDM™). The objective of this project is to drive quantum improvements in Supply Chain management, especially in the areas of forecasts, inventory levels and optimized production plans and overall reduced logistics costs.

While it is some good international exposure for TCS, it probably has nothing to do with racing or any technical side of it.

Still not a bad job nonetheless.

Any deal in the current market is good news for the TCSL employees. Hope Ducati does not go bust like Chrysler. Chrysler also had signed a multi million dollar deal with TCSL sometime ago.

Well, both the engagements are different in nature. With Ducati the partnership is more in ERP implementation and not directly in the space of their engineering and production. The objective of TCS' engagement with Ducati is to help improve Ducati's customer responsiveness and business efficiency. Whereas with Ferrari, it is the other way around cheers: Just in case it helps to know TCS has also partnered with a lot of other automobile companies including BMW.
