Having gone through two Huawei implementations over the last 2 years I must say I am impressed at their flexibility and the speed at which they go about their business.

A similar experience with Ericsson (for instance) would've left you with a bad taste in the mouth, plus a whole set of options that are not 'standard' (matter of course on Huawei) and have to be paid for separately...the difference in cost is astounding.

Anyway, the point is that when you pay for goods of western origin you are also paying through your nose to maintain a certain quality of life in those countries (in addition to the IP and R&D costs). I would rather save that money for myself if I had a choice.

the side profile looks soooo much good. They could've easily made the grille and lights much better and of good quality. They ruined it!

BAIC BC301Z & BC302Z-Chinese Merc B class copycat by Merc's chinese partner

article and pics from carscoop

Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Corp., commonly known by the acronym BAIC, is one of Mercedes-Benz's partners in China. However, that didn't stop the Chinese automaker, which has acquired the intellectual rights for Saab's older 9-5 and certain 9-3 models, to rip off the design of Mercedes' B-Class for its new BC301Z five-door hatchback and to a lesser extent, the BC302Z sedan. The styling similarities are not only concentrated on the outside with the profile line, V-shaped grille, headlamp and bumper designs, but are continued inside with the dashboard.
Fortunately for Mercedes, that's not the case with the drivetrain as the 4.038mm long BC301Z hatchback will be offered in China with a choice of two Mitsubishi-sourced gasoline engines, a 1.3-liter unit linked to a five-speed manual and a 1.5-liter powerplant hooked up to a CVT. The five-door model will be followed next year by a four-door sedan (BC302Z) and station wagon (BC303Z) variant.

Say, it does look good! Both the Hatchback and Sedan. The Chinese are getting better. I had seen this ad a few days back in the local paper where a new company was introduced by the local Nissan dealer. The catch however is the name of the company, Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile (ZNA). I don't know if its a Nissan subsidiary and if so, why would Nissan collaborate with a Chinese firm to get cars which are on the same segment as offered by them is a big question. But the cars looked good and they were cheaper than the competition. My two fils!

Cheers

Brilliance A3 SAV...er...Chinese BMW X1 copycat ?

Stumbled upon these images on carscoop. This Audi nomenclatured Chinese vehicle is a shameful ripoff of the BMW X1 and ironically, the not so "brilliance" is BMW's Chinese partner.

It's even got some Hyundai DNA in it. The steering is an i20 rip-off. I for one, like this design. Well, I've always liked the X1 too!

Re: Brilliance A3 SAV...er...Chinese BMW X1 copycat ?

Haha.. How good (unethical and stupid) are the Chinese? This car is a Joke.
If Brilliance is a BMW Partner, wouldnt BMW be ready to break off ties ? Or is it that BMW helped them develop this on a X1 platform through some sort of royalty agreement? (Highly unlikely though)

Re: Brilliance A3 SAV...er...Chinese BMW X1 copycat ?

Looks like the designers got hold of a X1 and started working on it.
The profile, bumpers and lights are clearly inspired by BMW.
The grill seems to be a mix between Skoda and Toyota

Though the attempt looks better than the other models that have been earlier posted here.

Also, why would a big company like BMW have to partner with some Chinese company and allow its products/designs to be copied?
