Read in this month's issue of Car & Driver - MB has recalled all cars fitted with the sensotronic braking system. If you remember, the sensotronic is MB's brake by wire system that electronically controls how hard the brakes are applied based on the amount of pressure applied by the driver on the brake pedal.

Well, apparently there were glitchs in the electronics controling this which made MB reall every single E and SL's . Its a good thing that there is a mechanical backup system incase of this type of failure.

Also, MB has decided not to use this system on future models as the benefits were not what they thought they would be.

I wonder if Indian E class and SL owners have been notified about this recall.

Mercedes electronics, after my C-Class I am not surprised at all. Though the cars are mechanical geniuses, its the electronics that form the weakest link in the three-pointed chain.

hey aadix, if you subscribe, it costs Rs.76 per issue. If you go to a bookshop here and buy it, they charge you Rs.350 per issue. No guess's as to which option I chose!!!

Rudra, how was the launch of the new C...and what was the outcome of the interegation about the recall???

Hey rtech. The launch was pretty sick. The most stupid launch I've ever seen. Spoke to them. Yes, they know about this problem and waiting (can you believe this??) for HQ's instruction..
The only saving grace that they have bagged order for 140 C-Class as of now till their first launch in Hyderabad. That's an achievement if you ask me..

the recalls are underway its a software bug it can be overcome by updating the software in the sbc control module .. and if the updation doesnt happen then replace the enitre sbc pump by a new one

well, good to know the recalls have started. I guess it was bound to happen. We have reched the day when we have to get our cars updated with the latest firmware!!! Just like we do our PC's!

In a few years we may not even have to go to the dealers for this, simply plug in your laptop, connect through your wifi to their website and download the latest updates!!

But, what happens when someone makes a virus for cars....
