Grande Punto with 1.6vgt released in EUROPE

This car the Grande Punto VGT 1.6 diesel has been released today in the home nation of the company. Some more time before it becomes available here in India but it surely will be.

Fiat Grande Punto 1.6 Multijet 120hp

Details of the engine below.
Fiat Bravo: All the strengths of the new 1.6 Multijet 16v engine - Auto news

What the engine can achieve with a ptronic diesel box. Have a look at the torque and bhp figures. The tire shredder if there was one don't you think. We would have to relearn driving to put this ppooooower down responsibly.

However good that engine is, at 12 lakhs, its priced out of budget for me. At the price of a linea, I'd jump in and book one and rejoin the ranks of the Fiat fans.

I did not go and check the prices of 1.3 JTD Punto prevalent in Italy, but comparing the prices with 1.6 JTD will give us some idea about the price difference both these cars can have.

Yes, a 1.6 JTD Punto, even at the price of Linea 1.3 JTD, will be my next car.

Man, the title of this thread is misleading. I for one thought it was released in India, and was shocked at how Fiat was launching the Grand Punto so soon after the Linea.

Seems a lil pricey at 12L, but sure it will be fully loaded for that price. Wish they launch the 1.6 engine soon in India too.

The white one with the blacked-out treatment looks reeeaally hot, and if the 1.6 JTD is any patch on the 1.3 JTD .. with 120 BHP and 320 NM .. I'm already going gaga.
FIAT .. PUH-LEASE price it reasonably. I'm in love

Mods - Please rename the thread as released in Italy, because its misleading for new car enthusiasts like me. But I should say its one hell of engine with good looks. If priced properly in the range of 6-7L then it will give Maruti and Hyundai run for its money.

I started this thread in the internatinal automotive scene instead of the Indian automotive scene to allay any doubts of it being released here in India.

They cannot price it above 6.lakhs.They have learnt the sales graph of the Getz CRDI. Moreover the Linea base is starting at just above 6 lakhs.

The price diffrential between the 1.3JTD and the 1.9JTD in New Zealand is about 5000New Zealand dollars. This should mean that the 1.6jtd here should be about 3000 to 4000 dollars costlier compared to the 1.3jtd. This again would mean that the FIAT guys would not be pricing it above about 6 to 7 lakhs. Keeping my fingers crossed and praying with devotion.

If I remember correctly, Fiats are CBUs in New Zealand. I am not sure how this affects the equation.
