Elises retain their value very well, Jesal, not they wont be that much of a steal unless they're very high mileage a battered.

They sell for around 24000 pounds new.

Oh and you guys should see JCs face while he was driving it.
Man will be really scary and illegal to drive on Bombay roads.
Maybe in the Powai Drags.
EDIT - don't the alloys look like the AURA ones?

I've seen a few Atoms doing the rounds on track days at Brands Hatch. The scream from that other-wise quiet japanese motor is astounding.Especially after seeing roaring Evo8s and M3s roar past a few minutes earlier.Haven't had the pleasure to sit or drive one.It isn't very practical as a daily driver though. Not having a windshield or a roof on a cold chilly night cruising the M25?Brrrr....

Well after reading this thread i could nto believe first before i saw the pics that a car costing 1/10th will beat the Carrera. This gives me an Idea of taking the Chinkara and implating a 3.0 Ivtec motor of the Accord in it..

It's only because it is stripped down to the minimum weight possible. Did anyone happen to see that episode??? If you did then did you see his face? His cheeks were sliding open because there was practically no windscreen.

The 220bhp Ariel Atom does 0-100 in 3.5 secs. It's the 300bhp Supercharged version that does 100 in 2.9 secs.

From Ariel, a Poor Man's Supercar

With just eight employees, Ariel Motors would seem an unlikely in the Supercar business. But Simon Saunders' stripped-down speed machine is wowing performance buffs -- and doing so at a price even regular folks can contemplate.
...The Ariel Atom 2 has 220 horses to propel you from zero to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. What's more, it's capable of cruising comfortably at 160 miles per hour.
.. and the base model comes for US$35,000...

Used ones woudnt be much of a steal, Im afraid, Jesal.

These 'special' lightweight cars have some of the best residuals in the business, and hold their value astonishingly well.

Also check Radical SR3...truly disgustingly fast...but Atom...that's what I'd buy f or pure track day/street fun. Featured in a Top Gear episode was a Palmer Jaguar too...awesome machine.

The Lotus 340R offers a slightly less extreme option to the Ariel Atom, though you can only buy it second -hand, as the production run of 340 was sold a while ago.
