@ above well said. even though i admire the Chinese for their manufacturing ability and their cheap price, the same cant be said about the quality. We can use and throw a cheap Chinese mobile but i am not ready to take the risk with my life driving these Chinese copycars.
until they come up with some real original designs they aren't going anywhere. This is where tata has to be applauded for coming up with a decent(actually good one in the europa variant) design even though it is 1 lakh car when they could have very well created a basic box with wheels .

Hey come on, these are proper automobiles that have passed tests and all that hoo hah. Not like the large scale manufacturing of chinese toys or something.

It's great that Asia is overtaking the west in various aspects. Yay!

can you give some links where the chinese have pass the tests?

The chinese vehicles have FAILED crash tests in Europe, which has the toughest tests!

Woops I got the impression you guys were talking about cars from the real brands, my bad.

What percentage of cars being bought in China are replicas?

The topic is about China being the biggest market, so the majority of cars are the real thing, lets not put China down. Their government actually has the will to improve their infrastructure and improve policies and are now emerging as the biggest market. Good for them.

It's not only China making replicas right? How about all the super car replicas people around the world are making

Sir, doesn't that amount to hearsay?

Would like to be know if perchance, or regularly, you have had the experience of driving a chinese made car?

Just came across this article:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/20/bu...orsche.html?hp

Some interesting bits:
SHANGHAI — Porsche unveiled its entry into the luxury sedan market here on Sunday night, the eve of the Shanghai auto show. It was the latest confirmationof the importance of the Chi nese auto market and the first time that Porsche has entered a new market segment at an auto show outside Europe or North America.

Auto sales rose 10 percent last month in China to a new record, and exceeded sales in the United States for the third month in a row as the world’s largest single-country market. That has prompted automakers from around the world to pay particular attention to the Chinese market, with a range of new models to be introduced here.

Car sales have been pretty strong in Brazil as well, which is also one of the largest emerging markets for the auto industry.

The way things are right now, only these developing countries will be able to "bail out" the troubled automakers out of their miseries.
