Bertone Mantide: The $2 million supercar

One really important factor of a supercar is its looks, which this one sadly doesn't have.

Front and sides are good according to me.But the rear looks horrible.Some how it reminds me of a mattress folded in a hasty manner.

uuuuuuuurgh that's gross somebody swat that bug!

I don't care how fast it goes but if you put 2 mill into that thing and expect to attract chicks (what most relatively young people buy supercars for) forget it!

On second thought you'd probably get Whoopie Goldberg or Rosy O'Donell

The price is unjustifiable. Even the styling is unjustifiable, the car doesn't even look aerodynamically efficient. Note the position of the ORVMs, its placed so high. Even if I had the money, I would never buy this funny looking funny named car.

aaarrrggghh, doesn't look at all like a couple of million bucks, and to think you can have a lamborghini, ferrari, aston etc etc for that price

I was watching a video of how this car is made at

YouTube - Inside Project M Episode VII The Mantide is Born RED!

and thought I would share it with everyone on this thread. The car looks like it's really fast with such a lightweight construction method. The Mantide appears to be completely hand made and uses the ZR1 Corvette engine, which is a 6.2 liter marine inspired engine originally built by Mercury Marine. Capable of long use at high RPM this is a very strong engine. Combined with Mantide's ultra light weight chassis, it's safe to assume it's a very fast vehicle. Great thread!

I donno guys...I like it. I mean, it does look outlandish, but that's not necessarily bad in a supercar. Look at the Zonda, the CCX, the Caparo....this could join that league, both in terms of price and looks...(and maybe even speed).

Well, it's bound to remind you of a few existing supercars, seeing how it's designed by Jason Castriota, the dude responsible for the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano and Maserati GranTurismo, as well as concepts like the Maserati Birdcage, RR Hyperion. He's a noted figure at Pininfarina, having led the design team for the P4/5 and the 612 Kappa.
