First 100% AMG built Mercedes SLS AMG

It's here, finally. A Mercedes-Benz product designed by AMG from the ground up. It's an amazing, capable vehicle of high speed and practicality. It can function on any surface with advance traction control and ESP. It has tons of power thanks to the AMG.

Full article: Mercedes SLS AMG: The first 100% AMG vehicle

Overall, I am very impressed with this vehicle and look forward to it's release. Over 500 horse power is very exciting, and wrapped in luxury / sport package designed by AMG is outstanding. It handles really well in the snow for having over 500 horse power. I was very impressed by the vehicle and the presentation videos.

Do you like the idea of AMG building a vehicle from the ground up?

Just thought of sharing a rendering of the car with you guys. The car will be an icon. too bad you cant have a hardtop convertible and gullwing doors at the same time.

YAY! The Gullwing is back. However I don't like those head lamps. Else it's HOT!

Looks great. But it looks like its an artists impression trying to merge known elements of the prototype and the current SL car (the sides)

Those headlamps must have been made vertically stacked to make it look reminiscent of the 300SL Roadster and also the subsequent W113 SL

both fantastic looking machines of their times, but unfortunately, in these times, those headlamps would easily relate to sportscars from Japan, say the Nissan Z, or even our very own Swift.

This is good news for the enthusiasts as whenever an AMG badged Merc used to be launched it would only reflect a shadow of what AMG used to come up with when it was independent.

The first time AMG (under Merc) was allowed to use their skills to a great extent was wrt the CLK Black. Which is why the no nonsense CLK was a great hit.

Hope they develop something which the automobile world will talk about many many years later.

Love the gull wing doors. The vertical styled headlamps however don't blend into the design. Would have loved to see a more menacing looking headlamp setup that would gel with that brilliant red paintjob!

good design but looks little too modern to be a 300SL, maybe they don't want to be look alike.

look at the 300SL posted by 1100D tho, it still looks excellent ..... such a timeless design

I would still choose the classy lamps from the actual 300SL Gullwing -

Old models were design classics, sadly they dont make cars like those any more.

Yes the old headlights looked much better
