And until the current spec Civic, the JDM Civic has always been hatchbacks.

It doesn't surprise me at all.
Since you put it this way , let me elaborate. Take the size of the wheel, compare it with the length of the rear door and the front door. I doesn't take much calculation and some estimation to clearly make out its not in D segment. Have you seen a D segmenter with such a short door ? They have to take interior space into account too , right ?

I liked the stance of the vehicle ,the rear is good too.civic brings to me an agressive looking car and that is there in this design too,

Spied:'12 Civic finally on works (European hatch)

pictures courtesy carpix

Honda has finally started work on its much hyped civic redesign after numerous delays. These shots show the EU version of hatchback which will also spin off NA spec sedans and coupes, plus Asian sedan and hatch, if any. Said to be smaller and lighter than its predecessor, styling is aid to be evolutionary.

Expected launch is fall of 2011. Keep an eye on this space for more updates.

How revolutionary can you make an already space age design? But it sure can do with a refresh. This one seems to have tons of camouflage. The boot "looks" pretty short like the current civic but the nose does look shorter and tighter. And if they turn the ride into a car from a boat, all the more better!

From the images it seems that the rear view is not so great keeping in mind the tail of the car, It could be a problem in conjusted cities with bumper to bumper traffic.

first spy shots

Finally some proper news of the 2012 civic to sink our teeth into. These are heavily camouflaged images but we know the new civic is on on it's way. Notice the Chevy Beat like rear door handles, and its also stated that it will be the first civic in generations to shrink in size. (hope the interior size is not compromised though) (damn there seems to be something wrong can't seem to be able to insert an image, oh well just follow the link below) More pics, follow link Spy Photos: 2012 Honda Civic

Keep your finger's Crossed ! as final shape cannot be ascertained with heavily camoflage.

Boy ! those tail lights are like "On Your Face". What's cooking honda, probably a crossover of sedan and a hatch ?

yeah those lights do look really high set, almost remind of a Cadillac cts (i know its nothing like it, just way they are high up) In any case i think there will be a proper sedan body for the indian market

i heard rumours about the next civic in 2011 must be false.
But if it will launch in 2012 in international markets then it should come down our shores by like 2013 ???

If its a 2012 model, it should be hitting stores in about 13-14 months from now. Looks more like evolution of the current model in the front. There were reports that the rear would be similar to city in terms of less overhang.
