Re: Cars in Hong Kong

The taxis seen in the picture are all 'Toyota COMFORT' models and have CNG powered engines.

They are generally maintained in superb condition with the following goodies.
  • Tubeless tyres
  • Airbags
  • Power steering
  • Power windows
  • Central locking
  • AC in working condition
  • Alloy wheels
  • Good music system and with Chinese music or songs
  • Clean washed tyres
  • Bathed with clean uniformed drivers wearing Raybans
  • In side the cab roomfreshners
  • CORRECT reading fare meters

Cars without dents ,peeling paint, lambi or putty applied on the body.
There is no end to list as compared to our Indian Cabs.

Ahhh, you make me miss home. Even being here in the US doesn't compare to being back home. :(

Re: Cars in Hong Kong

So I was in HK for a week for work and had the opportunity to see some of the best wheels that money can buy

It is a different matter that I landed on the day the protests started at the Airport and I was welcome by the protesters asking for "Freedom for Hong Kong" and I managed to sneak out just before the largest protest gathering took place in HKs history. Perhaps I can put the experience of the same in another thread. For now here are some of the cars that I managed to click while roaming on the HK streets after work on weekdays. I can only imagine what the scene will be on the weekends and on places there people come to show off their cars (like the Tokyo Drift scenes )

HK is a land of the rich for sure. You get to see every modern car with numerous options on it. Couldn't click every car that I saw but here are some of the pics of what I liked.

1) Very commonly seen modern cars - The S-Class and the Tesla Model X.
2) The Innova of HK - Toyota Alphard. Loved the gangsta looks of the same.
3) Porsche Cayman.
4) Ford Pick-up along with a Porsche.
5 & 6) BMW 5-Series based Station Wagon.
7 & 8) Lamborghini Gallardo.
9) Toyoto Estima Hybrid - A MPV for those with a budget.
10 & 11) Toyoto Alphard again.
12) Ssangyong MPV - Don't recollect the name.
13) Nissan MPV.
14) Toyota Comfort - The Kali-Pilli equivalent in HK. These all were LPG based (as opposed to CNG which I was expecting).
15) Tesla Model S - Another modern call seen quite commonly on the streets.

Re: Cars in Hong Kong

The hotel that I was staying at was one of the best hotels in HK and it houses a 2 Michelin star Chinese cuisine restaurant. No wonder the diners frequenting the same came in some wonderful sets of wheels.

These are some of the cars that I saw being parked in front of the main entrance of the hotel.

1) Lamborghini Huracan and BMW 7-Series
2, 3 & 4) Nissan GTR - Nismo edition. Notice the Audi next to it and the Lexus ahead of it.
5) Lambo again
6, 7 & 8) Porsche GT3 RS. Notice the Rolls Royce behind it. That blogged to the hotel to ferry high profile guests.

Re: Cars in Hong Kong

More cars from the HK Streets

1, 2 & 3) Nissan 370z - Notice the special Number.
4, 5, 6, & 7) Merc C63 AMG - Along with a 7-Series, Tesla, Toyota SUV and Hi-Ace nearby.
8 & 9) BMW M2
10) The Jag X-type. Notice the special number plate.
11 & 12) Ford Ranger Pick-up.
13) Bently Flying Spur - Notice the two number plates. Gyan: This means the car can be driven in both - Mainland China and HK. Upper number plate is for HK while the lower one is for the Mainland. Quite a hassle free process.
14 & 15) Mini Cooper with a special number plate. Gyan: HK is one of those places where you can buy your unique number plates. Apart from the usual suspects such as this (BE KOOL) or KHAN786 (not pictured) I saw an S-Class with the number plate saying "BURGERS"
16) Hyundai i30
