Aston Martin chopped in the middle

Here it is!! It was showcased athe Cooper Square Hotel by the New York presentation of the new DBS Volante. It was stripped down with only half a shell in order to show the inner mechanicals and designs of the car.

Is that the chassis which is extended in the front?

That is the chasis, it is infact the aluminium bonded front end chasis extension. It serves as a crumple zone during collision as well as providing balance while cornering to the suspension.
