Dear Friends,
The jeep cherokee and grand cherokee were being made in China, by beijing jeep corporation, under a collaboration with crysler.
Some of the photos show a glimpse of them with localised modifications. like our local modifying specailists, am sure china has a lot of people copying and creating their own versions.
remember how our very own contessa was remodeled with mercedes/toyota grills/lights and all by national garage!!!

what makes you say these are "fake chinese hummers" ??

cant they be GM - HUMMERS made in China ?

The Japanese are obsessed with quality while the Chinese don't care about the quality. I have heard that when Yamaha ventured into motorcyles (originally Yamaha was a music instrument company - that is why they still use tuning forks for their logo), they sold some numbers in UK. After a few years, the parent company in Japan wondered why not many Yamaha motorcycles are sold in UK. They were told by their dealers that people who bought them had problems in the engine and so scrapped them as getting spares were difficult. The Yamaha company sent teams of engineers to UK who hunted down every single customer who bought their motorcycle and repaired them free of cost. The English customers were taken aback at this kind of service. The Japanese never turned back after that.

Try and buy a simple drill bit set in any hardware shop. You will find Chinese made bits the cheapest. But no one will buy them as they are next to useless. Indian made drill bits are expensive but last longer. Leave alone European made bits or American made bits.

I don't think Chinese will ever produce anything of high quality on their own. They may be the World's Factory as of now - but they mass produce things designed elsewhere.

did they copy that too?..now that hummer brand is dead, they don't have much to worry bout .For all that we know, they may supply to the US army in due course of time.!!

The US army is doing away with the hummers it already has. The legendary side protection against bombs and bullets called "thin air" provided by the hummer has already killed scores of US marines.

The chinese hummvee also has a CTIS on wheels. Hope they work.

One thing thing they proved is that anything can be drafted, moulded and copied. and that too in a fraction of the cost.

Its a lesson to overpriced cars here in india too, which always cry about building and localizing costs .

Exactly, these look just like the Hummer. CAnt it be a hummer?

Nice. I wish we could buy these Chinese copies here. Would be nice to see how the other manufacturers react. The Chinese have also a Pulsar copy called the "Gulsar". At little OT here but the US flag which flies on the White House is also "Made in China".

Haha you really don't have any idea what the Chinese are do you? Never under-estimate these people. I have seen in the recent years how their economy and country has risen, it's unbelievable. Before their copying was all bad quality, but now... they can even bloody copy the Rolls Royce. It's obviously not the same thing, but understand what I'm saying.

The white Hummer look-alike looks like a good copy.I mean the wheels,tyres and the general body structure look properly finished(by Chinese standards!!).Only the front grille and headlamps are changed.Is it really a copy? Or could it be a Hummer made in JV with some local Chinese car manufacturer?
