For a change, Try KPH and SHP instead of Kmph and BHP

Here is something for the Team-BHPians for a change; A machine can that do a top speed of 70 knots per hour (1 knot = 1.852 kilometer) or roughly 130 kmph and in its normal cruising speed of 50 kph it can leave 50 per cent of Indian cars high and dry. And with a top SHP of 20,070 combined, it is still giving a best “mileage” of 10.51 kmpl.

Happy Drooling…

wow! And add one fact to that speed. It can go in straight line and doesn't need to negotiate bad roads, traffic or winding long routes. It can surely beat most cars.

you mean 70 nautical miles an hour or 70 Knots

there is no such thing as Knots per hour

and do not forget it has

2 x 5435 hp Paxman diesels
1x 9200 hp Lycoming turbine

you can not use the information provided such as range and fuel capacity to calculate fuel efficency of a yacht or ship . They normally have dedicated diesel generators onboard for power generation , to run the air conditioning and all the onboard electronics .which consume quite significant amount of fuel

it must be bloody hell expensive !

ok so its a fast boat !!!

it doesnt have to brake as often as an Indian car ..in which case an avergae indian car will leave the Yatch "high and Dry" ...

Knots is Naut. miles / hour. Yes I agree, KPH is something like "National Highway Road"

Yes you are correct. The fuel consumption for the Auxillary and creature comfort is not inlcuded in (my) estimate. Please note that the "mileage" figure will go up if we exclude this also. will beat an Indica in Diesel Consumption?
How much avrg will it get with the AC off? :-) (I hope GTO is not seeing this after his posts on India's blatant obsession with FE !)

You bet..but it would be peanuts when you compare it with M$ co-founder Mr. Paul Allen's newest (took delivery on Feb 05) superyacht The Octopus, which is the largest yacht in the US now. A cool US$100 million. And remember he also owns the Tatoosh, America's 3rd biggest.

But then its peanuts for him, a man with US$ 20 billion net worth....

Hey Sandeepmdas & Madmonkey,

Have you guys seen www.wallypower.com ?
Spectacularly possibly ugly but yet sexy yachts (i believe they are tested in the ferrari wind tunnell (happy merve? :P )
When you get to the site click on "Power" and then "118 Wallypower". Make sure you look at the pics 1-38 !
Consumes 60Liters per nuatical mile @ 60knots !!! beat that for FE!
16,800HP !!!!
It even has a carbon fibre toilet seat to save weight!! (it was featured in Top Gear's episode on the pagani zonda roadster.)

Also, if anyone has good, high res pics of the J Class, pleaaaaase send them my way!

Thanks,
R

@Rehan, thnx a lot.. I think I will suffer a cardiac arrest....
@ Merve_Extream...its all horsepower bose...

BTW, saw this news item in The Hindu. It is about a new Fast Attack Craft (FAC) built by Garden Reach of Kolkata for our navy. The brief says it has a top speed of 28 knots...

http://www.hindu.com/2005/06/29/stor...2903861300.htm

LET me admit, I am a zero as far as naval deployement and tactics are concerned, and my knowledge is limited to some Tom Clancy novels. But I wonder whether this FAC is fast enough for interception. Another Puruliya in the making?

I hope the Team-BHPians who have more knowldge on a topic like this will enlighten us.
