Yo!! Pictures at Photo Gallery | TOKYO MOTOR SHOW WEB SITE. Apparently it has a 660cc petrol engine and a 55kW electric motor with a range of around 20km after which it switches to the petrol engine.

Well if Suzuki manages to put this to production and bring it to India by say 2012 for around 6.5 to 7 lacs..I'd sit up an take notice. A hybrid that looks good, perfect for a city jaunt and can be plugged in to change on my apartment mains!! Wow!!

Perhaps Maruti should think of the Alto or M800 with the same 660 engine and the electric motor..

Maruti Suzuki is going to showcase a new hybrid model of Maruti Swift in Tokyo Auto Show 2010. The Company has not given any information regarding the model including technical features. It will only be a concept hybrid car and the company will carry forward some changes in exterior. This model is apart from regular Maruti Swift.

While there are some serious upgrades in most of the maruti suzuki models there is also a plug-in for Suzuki Swift which will probably make Maruti Suzuki Swift as a hybrid car after Honda Civic and yet to be launched Toyato Prius in India. Swift Hybrid will be mounted with an electric motor along with the petrol engine.

Petrol engine will act as a generator coupled with the electric motor which will yield enough charge the battery enough to have low speed journey of 20 km. The battery can also be charged by connecting it to the mains of a standard household socket. This hybrid model car was showcased in the Tokyo Motor Show. Battery used in the car will be lithium iron battery. So far no official announcement has been made by the authorities about launching Suzuki Hybrid model in India.
