Re: 2012 BMW 3-series (F30) Rear View Revealed Via Render

I do not mind the design. However it lacks the aggression. I think they will have problem selling the 50:50 weight balance in this form factor.

//M3 will also have tough time with this design. Maybe the rendition is not 100% but seems every manufacture wants a family resemblance.

Wait and watch!

Design wise, an evolution of the current 3-series. Solid, clean design. Like the BMWs of yore. Nothing fancy, but timeless nevertheless.

it getting very close to f10 5, I dont like it much..
Its Mimicking the current 5 Series a lot. Its good to get the family look acorss the model range to get brand identity but I feel it should not extend more than a grille.

Currently every manufacturer is trying to keep their models as close as possible. I feel its not a good thing. Nevertheless the design is timeless in nature.

Re: Spied:2012 BMW 3 series sedan

Design direction looks like the New Verna to me. And thats a good thing. Though I agree it may have been the other way round.

Re: Spied:2012 BMW 3 series sedan

There is nothing wrong with the design as such. But then, there is nothing exciting as well. When the 5-series came I thought ‘it does not look menacing like the previous 5, nor have the design edge, but it looked decent and gave a sense of maturity. But looking at the 1 and 3 designs, there is only one word I can think of – uninspiring. These are just my personal thoughts, and designs especially will create divided opinions.

I have great admiration for BMW – for their driving dynamics, and for the way they forced Mercedes and Audi to raise the bar. But at this moment, I feel they are losing the design game to the same competitors. Especially with Merc, who is getting closer to the BMW traits with some well sorted out cars – and that too without losing their traditional strengths!
