200kgs lighter ? That's a great thing. Any idea how they managed to shed so much at one go?

This looks awesome. It does look like a modded version with the cage and the cylinder stuffs. Nevertheless, its one of the most stunning Beemers

I think they removed everything which made the M3 a great car. It was great because it was blindingly quick AND was practical. They seemed to have rempoved everything that was practical.

If I had to go this hardcore, I would go for the E46 M3 CSL. It looks gorgeous as well.

Nikhil i think that is the whole point of this car. It is meant for track use only. For practical purpose you have the regular m3.

BMW M3 GTS Revealed [Video]

Quote:
Despite the factory car having weight-saving pieces like the carbon fibre roof, BMW saw it fit to reduce body mass even further. After all, the GTS aims to beat the old M3 CSL's Nürburgring lap time. Measures thus taken include employing light body-contoured seats, a new titanium rear silencer whose work can be heard on the video as well as the removal of air conditioning and the rear seat. Rollover protection mounts were bolted on from the B column while a fire extinguisher and a battery master switch/emergency shut-off preparation ensure safety.

No HVAC, ICE, satnav or heavy electric seats.

Sidindica forgot the post the price - a down to earth $170K, that's almost 3 times the cost of a regular ///M3. Those wheels looks absolutely brilliant though.

P.S.: Why does it have a rear trunk lip spoiler when there is already a giant wing at the back? Any techies wanna shed light on this?

Love the wheels (and the specs for sure!). Even if its for track purposes, I'd rather not have the spoiler ( or a better one at that).

Maybe for "spoiling" the airflow that manages to escape under that giant wing!
