Porsche Panamera

Porsche Panamera

Porsche has declared the go-ahead for the fourth model series, a four-seater to join the range in 2009. The Panamera Sports Coupe confirms what has long been hoped for from Porsche, ever since the still-born 969 was spied in 1991. Set to rival the next incarnation of the Mercedes-Benz CLS, the Porsche Panamera adopts a similar package, eschewing the rear-mounted engine of the 911 in favour of a front-mid engine driving the rear wheels. Unlike the VW-twinned Cayenne, the Panamera will have a unique platform funded entirely by Porsche.

Porsche Panamera Thread [Until its ready, some photochops]

I am waiting to see what this car will bring to the table, they have a hige styling challenge in front of them to match CLS and Rapide, since it will fall right inbetween the 2 with base starting in at about 120ish and turbo version going all the way upto 180ish...

so here are some chops..

i would really like to see something fantastic from porsche this time around..

looks like a 911 with 4 doors. Kinda tough to digest a Porsche with 4 doors inspite of seeing so many Cayennes.

Just hope they do justice to those extra doors by having enough space at the rear. From the images in the magazine it looks tight at the rear. No point making a 4 door just to add to their model lineup.

looks pretty roomy but that sloping rear window must make things difficult

I'm sure the final design will be appealing. Porsches in general are very handsome. There's an obvious exception, or maybe two. (Cayenne and Coxster).

Looks good although not as attractive as the 2 door Porsches. But these are renditions. Who knows what the end product will look like. Reminds me of the Aston Martin Rapide.

I love the looks. It looks absolutely wicked - the way Porsches should be looking. Hope they dont make too many changes to it.

I like the first set of pics. If this is how its going to look, then Porsche may just have a winner on their hands.

Yep. Should wait to see what the end result looks like. The camouflaging makes it look uglier than the original photoshop renditions.

Scheduled for an official presentation at the 2009 Geneva show, the Panamera is expected to be a strong competitor to the Mercedes CLS and the future Aston Martin Rapide, as well as Volkswagen's upcoming four-door coupe.
They must be kidding. Who would cross shop a volkswagen with Porsche, Mercedes, AM and the likes??!!
