Chinese market facelifted Tiguan styling will likely be the same for other markets too

China is quickly becoming the largest vehicle market in the world and VW has a huge presence there. It's no wonder that the German automaker has debuted a facelifted Tiguan model there.

Now, it could be that this is solely the Chinese market Tiguan and that a facelift of the compact SUV will look different in its European and North American iteration. But it is unlikely VW will change much, if anything, of the Tiguan's new styling from what we see here.

Styling cues appear to be taken from the current Golf and Scirocco models - maintaining a design consistency in VW's lineup. The Chinese press release does not provide many details so we will have to wait for a European facelift for the Tiguan to find out what new technological goodies VW has in store for it.

I don't think this is a facelift, I just think its china spec model.

This looks more or less like a facelift and as mentioned in the post, it falls in line with the Sirocco's front end. If you google 'Tiguan 2010' or 'Tiguan '2011' similar photos pops up but there are varying stuff on it.

Volkswagen’s Polo-based MQB-A0 platform will be the one used to provide the backbone for a variety of mini-crossovers. MQB-A0 platform will also be used to undercut the new Up! Alltrack, a larger Golf Alltrack variant, and possibly even the new Tiguans in 2015.

The Tiguan II isn’t expected to be released until 2014 with the CC and longer version just for China in 2015. It will share most of its components with the latest Mk7 Golf—not surprised since the Tiguan was essentially a five-door Golf on stilts.
Expect the usual mix of gasoline and diesel engines with reasonable power and high fuel efficiency. Though enthusiasts might be interested in hearing that Tiguan R would receive the same treatment much like the Golf R will be getting, which means unique appointments and a 280hp and 295lb-ft 2.0L turbocharged four-banger.

The new Tiguan has become more urban now. I prefer the looks of the current version, which although small, looked more aggressive.
