Honda will pass Chrysler for 4th place in U.S. sales

Honda set to bump Chrysler from 4th place in US Sales for 2009

Though Honda's year to date sales are off 21% compared to the 11-month sales total for 2008, at this point they have outsold Chrysler by some 200,000 units for 2009. John Mendel, American Honda Executive Vice President of sales, downplayed the results, saying that Honda may look at how particular models compare to other models, but not how Honda ranks in overall sales relative to other automakers. Automotive News quotes him as saying “We are all in the same hospital, and some of us are more critical than others,” and “Either you pay in production cuts, increased fleet sales or increased incentives, but everyone is paying right now.”

I read on some website that Chrysler actually had some pretty decent sales last quarter, and they were looking to an improved start next year. None-the-less Honda ought to have a clean sweep of this, and take the 4th spot with ease.
