Probably her personal choice but patriotism means she is stuck to Rover's, Rolls Royces and a custom made Bentley. No doubt she bumed many a ride on trips abroad

The W140 is the ideal "Gangsta" car.....

For me, the W140 far outclasses the W220 and W221s of the late C20 and early C21.

I know a man who is the proud owner of an S500L, W140, and till this day, the 1996 car absolutely REEKS quality.

Yes, the car looks massive and is often referred to as a 'boat', but my gosh, the downright pride one starts to develop is exuberates in wonderous.

I love this considerably more than the W220, and a GREAT deal more than the W221.

Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing

the S-Class Mercedes-Benz has been the definitive benchmark when it comes to executive luxury sedans, however, when it comes to The absolutely best Mercedes-Benz nothing can beat the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing coupes that were produced in the mid-late 1950's.

these coupes, while not being "as powerful or safe or as refined" as their modern counterparts, they definitely can hold their own against the newer rivals - Mercedes or otherwise.

here are a couple of pictures off Serious Wheels:

W140 rocks man. The newer benzes are to japanese, too plasticy, too curvy and too gizmo loaded. They dont have the majestic look of the odler ones.

Give me a 300SEL 6.3 ( the original fast saloon, grandaddy of the M5) or a 600. In my opinion, THOSE are the true great Benzes. ( If we only include four door Benzes.)

Wow Rushabh...
The W140 looks blistering...Particularly the wheels and the exhausts...and 400 bhp with a V12 engine...the current AMG tuned supercharged engines remind me of that config...

And as all say...the old Merc is in a class of it's own...which the new ones cannot match upto.

Though I still feel that the 300 SL GULLWING is stil the ultimate Merc there ever was and will be.

Mercedes Benz Pullman 600 !!!!!
At the end of the day they were also the W140 design Steeroid and shared the same engine as the S600. The V12 389hp monstrosity. They also had the normal W140's in their garage at that time. So the moral of the story is the W140's wether you like them of hate them you still could not do without them .

GTO great information on the car and the only thing that comes to mind when you think of the W140 is the class and sheer presence of the car, compare it to the W220 and the w221 and they look like mix breeds and todlers. The W140 in my eyes is evergreen, you can never get tired looking at one and definately cannot get enough of the power the V12 can throw at you. If the car is kept well it will last you a life time.

Is there a list of W126 & W140 models in India?

Lads,

It would be interesting to compile a list of W126 & W140 models that came to India.

Regards

The W126 and the W140 were brought in all models in India. Right from the 280 to the 500 for the W126 and 300 to the Pullman for the W140. There were a few diesels as well for both cars. The coupe were also there. The 500sec and 560 sec for the W126 and CL 500 for the W140.

A Better statement describing the W140 would be impossible.
