Ford Escape SUV Hybrid 36MPG / 16 KMPL in City

Hi Guys,

I just came across this beautiful ford SUV. It 2.6L engine and gives about 16KMPL (36MPG) in city. It runs on electric motor upto 42km speed and after that it runs on fuel engine. Such a big car gives such wonderful mileage !!!

I assume in Mumbai traffic we drive under 40km/h for 60% of the time so we should get about 18kmpl average in such a big car.

Imagine if we can have maruti 800 hybrid and Honda city hybrid, how much mileage we can get from such cars.

Maruti 800 hybrid 30kmpl ????
Honda City Hybrid 22kmpl ????

This will be great savings in fuel. Here is the link to this car.

It cost only US $27,000. Maruti should take initiatives in lunching hybrid cars in India since Crude oil prices will soon reach $70 per barrel which should make patrol price around Rs.55 by end of this year.

Here is more. A guy has modified his hybrid and is getting whopping 250MPG (about 111kmpl). Its plug in hybrid and kit cost only US $6000. Now that's fuel efficient car.
