If I owned a test track, I would have considered a BMW M5. It's easily the most technically advanced car around and also has the best high speed poise.
But, in the real world, there is no doubt about which car I'll take. The Jaguar S-Type R has 400bhp, very good grip and a 0-60 time of 5 secs - figures that hardly anyone is ever gonna use in a sedan. It's the most stylish of the lot - a car that will well and truly stand out in a crowd. It's also the cheapest among these 4. Most importantly for me, it's a Jaguar!

very easy, atleast for now. The E60 M5 it is, 500bhp, 8250 rpm redline and a naturally aspirated V10, all do it for me. my opinion holds valid only till 2008/2009 though, when Porsche introduces it's own 4 door sedan. i know what i'm going to be opting for then...

BMW M5 for me. Technologically the most advanced car with a superb 500bhp engine. And I love it's looks too. Actually Chris Bangle designs don't look that good in pictures but if u actually look at the cars then they really look awesome. BMW's for eg. now look very macho and aggressive and man they really have a big personality and attitude now!. Trust me, when a bangled bmw crosses you WILL look at it.

Great stuff!

This poll was a good indicator of how good t-bhpians are with their cars and their tastes. Sure, the M5 has been no.1, but i can also see why people have justified the Rs6, E55 and S-type R. Makes me proud that t-bhpians are the best of the best w/o a doubt.

Well there's no doubt which one i really like here, and its a foregone conclusion that everyone knows already. Honestly, the only reason that makes me skeptical about the car is its 7-speed sequential manual, but having been an M-division nut for the last 15 odd years, i know that they'd do it right anyways. What I like about the current M5 is, like its older sibling, it has 400 bhp on tap since BMW thinks its enough for daily use. But that button at the bottom which says "sport" just boosts it to 507, propelling the car to 60mph in 4.5 secs. Its like a boost or jet thruster if u may please, but seems quite interesting.

What BMW does best, unlike some of its competition, is not create a car just so that it can beat others in the power stakes, but also one that can take corners with aplomb. And thats what makes a car. BALANCED. One of the very reasons my love story with the M-division spans for such a long time.

Of course the other car that comes close in this comparo is the RS6. No, not because Jeremy decided to put his vote on it, but the fact that how Bernd Pscheitsrieder and the new management are trying to imbibe some BMW culture in Audi. Previously the RSs used to understeer like crazy, but not this. This one hugs the road like it were a part of it and the technically competent new AWD system lets it stick to its line. Pretty good infact.

The one to watch out for, as PH mentioned is the upcoming Porsche sedan in 07-08. But i dunno how much does Porsche wanna get into BMW, Merc and Audi territory.

Till then, i think its the M5 for me.

the poll is for performance sedan
nothing touches the M5
the next comes jag , as it is cheaper and a great car.
the audi next and last is the MErc for me

IMO the e55 AMg lacks the look of a performance sedan
its looks more decent and sober car

the M5 is technically a great car might be the best, but the E55 AMG is turning heads all over europe, it also is a great package and it offers more luxury inside and is also well build... another car to watch out for is the CLS55 AMG!!!
