See, these results cannot be taken seriously. A jump from 412bhp to 435bhp might look big but its only a 5.2% gain.

You dyno test the same car in Bbay and Blore, you will notice close to 7-8% diff in power/torque.

Just have a question . For the dyno tests , wont they have some form of basic norms with which they dyno test all the vehicles ?
Because one testing in 3rd gear and the other testing in 4th gear is bound to produce different results.

MotorTrend published their roadtests of the V6 and GT earlier this morning

V6:
0 - 60: 5.1 sec
0 - 100: 13.1 sec
1/4 mile: 13.7 sec at 102 mph
Skidpad Grip: 0.96g

GT:
0 - 60: 4.3 sec
0 - 100: 10.3 sec
1/4 mile: 12.8 sec at 110.8 mph
Skidpad grip: 0.94g

Those are seriously fast numbers.

At base prices of 23k and 30.5k respectively, the 2011 Mustangs sound like the performance bargains of the decade.

This is really a car to die for.

Tacho, the prices mentioned, are they Indian roads costs?

Sorry dude we all really wished if these were prices on Indian roads. Sadly i guess if this one came to India, it won't be less than 50 Laks surely.

I have seen quarter mile figures anywhere between 12.6 and 12.9 for the M3 from the auto mags. So, I wouldn't call the Mustang GT faster than the M3. But they will be close enough for it to be a drivers' race out on the street

Blah Blah Blah. Guys. you guys are ALL wrong. Companies lie about their figures to keep insurance rates down. And everyone in the automotive world does it, and has been doing it since years. Its nothing new.

2011 Mustang GT betters/Equals the 2011 BMW M3

Yes guy's, no jokes. The 2011 Mustang GT is a serious Sports car finally. Look at the track results. It betters and stays even very close by a margin to the M3, even with that ancient Rear live axle.

0-100 Kmph

Mustang - 4.4/4.3 sec
BMW M3 - 4.4 sec

100-0 stop

Mustang - 108 Feet
BMW M3 - 110 Feet

And on the Track the Mustang lost to the M3 by just 1/10th of a second. I think that 1/10th of a second can be fixed from all the savings that you get by not buying an M3 ,just put in a lil more mods.

Check out Motor Trends Video at Auto Blog.

The numbers are amazing for Mustangs and Ford did a good job this time shelling off weight and working on the engine for more power and efficiency, much needed for all American cars manufacturers. But we all need to understand one thing, end of the day its not the numbers, its the feel. We all know BMW's are great to drive, even the basic 3 series with the entry level engines make you feel good behind the steering wheel whereas a Shelby with 500 HP doesnt/wont give you that feel. Lets wait and see the feedback on driving feel.

Agreed that the Bimmers are a great piece of engineering and very good to drive. But there is a sense of fear always as to when the engine or Transmission will fail and when the Dash board will start glowing with Christmas Lights allover after a spirited run. Its got more computers controlling the drive than a supercomputer.

The Mustangs are pure. No such fancy gimmicks as a Bimmer. They are more reliable. No fear of needing to make friends with your showroom Car advisor/agent Coz your not going to meet him often anyways. You could probably fix your car yourself even if it does breakdown once in a lifetime.
