Looks like a hatchbach, but with 2 door instead of 4.
Is it the first time they're entering into a hatchback or are there hatches already with Audi?

The 1.4 TFSI putting out 150HP at 5,500rpm is said to have a torque of 240Nm over 1600-4000rpm. It is supposed to do 0-100 in 7.9 seconds and is said to have a top speed of 200 km/h. What I like about this hatch is that it comes with 18 inchers of 225/35 ! Now I would love to see this baby rip the Indian roads. But again the price remains a big concern. By looking at it, its not going to be priced less than 8L.

This one reminded me of the Fiat 500!!!

On the other hand, I some how feel there is a good potential for the A1 platform to adapt for a roadster!! May be the wheelbase is making me feel so!!

As per the wikipedia, I think the 125KW 1.4 TFSI should be exciting to the US customers while the Diesel to the Canada and European customers :

Audi A1 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Engine(s) (anticipated)
Petrol:
1.2 L TFSI 63 kW (84.5 bhp) I4
1.2 L TFSI 77 kW (103.3 bhp) I4
1.4 L TFSI 90 kW (120.7 bhp) I4
1.4 L TFSI 125 kW (167.6 bhp) I4
Diesel:
1.6 L TDI 55 kW (73.8 bhp) I4
1.6 L TDI 66 kW (88.5 bhp) I4

1.6 L TDI 77 kW (103.3 bhp) I4

PS: Can we assume, the Audi might think of doing something like the Fiat 500 or the VW Bettle stunt in India with the Audi A1??

Audi also made the highly successful A3. The A1 with 2 doors looks real sweet. For the 5 door model, there is the A1 Sportback Concept.

On a different note, the A1 is developed form the Polo platform. This could be one of the more affordable Audi's. Hope it comes to India and a not so Audi like price!

This would cost anywhere between 9-14 lakhs if it were to be launched here! The A3 falls in the 18 - 20 lakh bracket if you ask me! The A3 shares its platform with the Skoda Octavia (a.k.a. the Laura) and the VW Jetta/Golf. I'm sure the A1 shares its platform with a lesser car. Probably, the Polo IMO!

EDIT: P.S. My speculation on the pricing could be horribly wrong!

I really liked the shape of the car. A hatch with a proper contoured back. The front looks cool, as expected of Audi. I simply loved it.

Wish the hatches made here takes a que about the hatch design from this.

are you sure? because afaik, the length of the a3 is around 4.2 m whereas the laura(or the octavia) stands at 4.5m
i might be wrong though
