More to it than that. It all down to finances etc. Many Citroens have won the Paris Dakar it does not really mean much when it comes to car sales and what is best for normal civilian use.

The only people I ever see driving Shoguns/Pajeros is Irish Tinkers (gypsies).

So you want to say that hald the bollywood celebrities are gypsies right.

Well I always knew they were.

the time for mitsubishi to strike back is still some months away. their pajero has not been updated since a long time.

so i must say LC is a better vehicle at the moment.

pajero and landcruiser are equivalent product. Its the toyota and the lexus names that sell more cars.

I have been using landcruser since 96. And let me tell you nothing comes close if you need of offroad and reasonable comfort.
Recently I assisted my friend in choosing a 4wd, also accompanied him for test drives. What i noticed is that both LC and Pajero are more car like now as far as interiors are concerned, LCs interiors are great and of better built. LCs still impressed me. It still rocks specially for off-road use. The best feature of LC and Prado is still the engine which is much more refined than a pajero. Just for the information, my friend finally went for the fortuner v6(same engine as the prado sold here).
BTW, the LC and Prado are still on ladder frame chassis. Whereas the new pajero/montero is now monoque construction.
All tested vehicles are petrol versions.
Final word: Landcruiser, Prado Rocks.

And please leave out the Paris-Dakkar stuff. Those are heavily modified pajeros, no the production versions. So, it is useless taking those credentials into consideration in this comparison, unless you are a mitsubishi salesperson.

I hope the Landcruiser mentioned here is the Prado and not the LC. LC v/s Pajero no match. LC Prado v/s Pajero, the former is still a better choice.

Like someone said, dont get carried away by the Paris Dakar image - if such images were a reflection of the actual state of affairs the world be be driving Subaru.

The Pajero is a good 4WD, but no match for the Prado or (sacrilege!) the LC. The only competition for the LC would be the Nissan Patrol and the G Wagon, with the latter being several price points and features ahead. Wadi and Dune bashers swear by this trinity.

Dont really care much about either of the two cars. They hardly hold any importance in the international market anymore. Heck, I havent seen either 1 of those in Canada, US or London for over 3-4 years now. But if it did come down to these 2: its gotta be the Land Cruiser !!! otherwise, I'd be really happy with a Nissan Murano.

Okay, then its a Middle-eastern Chick Truck. And as you probably know they tend to be better looking in the middle-east......

Its more of a soft-roader, though, not an SUV. For good 4WD you need to step one rung up the Nissan ladder and go for the Pathfinder, or two steps up to the Armada (which is an awful looking piece of machinery).

Man, 80 series is THE landruiser to have. Pictures? Ownership reports? Is it great to own, or a little impractical?

Thanks GTO.

Pics in the Garage section. I got the truck fairly recently so haven't had much of an ownership experience to write about yet. Later, definitely.

It's quite easy to live with once you have mentally mapped it's perimeters. Great road presence, driving in Delhi is not an issue but parking is a pain. But I don't use it much in the city except drive to work occasionally and I am almost embarassed driving this behemoth with just one person in it.

I got it primarily for long drives with family to the mountains. For that I got to make it kid friendly first (DVD, PS2 etc). But that is another thread in the ICE section.

Gears,
Red-One.
