...motor trend scans,
which do u guys prefer??? am surprised to see the E55 will beat the M5 on a drag.

According to the mag,
*E55 - More refined, more luxuries, great engine, better built, good looks, less driver involement.
*
*M5 - Superb Engine, Sports car feeling, confused design, less importance for the passengers.

....now 05' M5 vs 05' CLS55, scans from a german mag,

*SURPRISE : * * CLS beats the M5!!!

Well it always was to happen. The M5 for all its techno-wizardry is low on torque in comparison to the 5.5 litre beasts from Stuttgart. But then again, its only straight-line drags. It probably might be of importance to the few who like to race on autobahns, but in real-world driving, where 60-80% of the performance driving is done on B-roads, the M5 should kill atleast the E55. The CLS is still an unknown quantity, but i doubt it to beat the M5 in the handling stakes.

The new M5 has lost what it originally set out to do, to create a powerful yet practical four door saloon car. But i guess the problem lies with the whole segment itself where it somehow cannot distinguish itself from the entry-level supercars like the 911 Turbo, F430, Gallardo in terms of engine-tech and performance.
