Dodge will send off the current viper by producing a limited run of uniquely designed 50 cars called the Viper final edition.

It includes:

Power comes from 8,400 cc V10 OHV with 600 bhp and a 0-100 kmph time of less than 4 seconds.

One of my all time favorite cars...it wasn't a supercar in the true sense of the word, yet the Dodge Viper had two unique characteristics : Power, Torque and Character. The Viper, along with the Ford Mustang, Chevy Corvette and Camaro, is (and will remain) an iconic car. Not as high on bang for the buck as the Corvette, but was still well-priced for what it offered. I've riden in a 2nd gen Viper...blue + silver stripes. I can tell you few cars match up to the sheer experience or the nasty acceleration. The sound of that 8.0 liter petrol alone can blow your mind away. I feel that the current gen is toned down, and doesn't have the evilness of the older cars.

And for all those of you who think that Vipers cant handle, let me tell you there are some well-driven examples which have earned quite the reputation on the track.

@ Sid : Don't bid farewell just yet. If rumour mills are anything to go by, an all new Viper is expected in 2 - 3 years. That's one of the reasons why the Viper brand was not sold off.

What's with this trend of that black roof? It makes the car look like a Corvette, just like it did to the 599!

Over and above everything else, the Viper will be synonymous to me for the Racing stripes that ran the length of the car. Hope the rumours are true and we get to see a newer version in a couple of years. Till then, the Viper will be missed.

A bit OT - but why is it a still an OHV?
BTW, what's an ACR?

The engine's still a push-rod because it's shared with the RAM pick-up! So they can save a bunch of money instead of developing something new.

It's like the Royal Enfield philsophy - why put in a V-twin, when the thumping single cylinder is still loved by all.

I LOVE the Viper! It's not a fine-handling Italian or German, but it's a car that can turn a smile into a big grin.

ACR is the American Club Racer version. It's a more hard-core version of an already hard-core car - designed mainly for track use but for what it's worth, it is street legal.
Stiffer suspension, wider wheels, huge wing, no electronic distractions (radio, A.C., etc.)...

I am going to miss this car very much ,though I have not driven this car in real but in most of the NFS games this was one of the car which made me to win.
Hope a new and better Viper comes out soon.

I hope the new Viper retains its old characteristics and does not go the Honda City way. The Viper will surely be missed, hope the replacement is quickly on way!

Pure Automotive S Appeal!

One of my all time favorites. Its low, its wide & yes, its definitely wicked. Apt for the name it was given.
Has the same lunacy characteristics that some Lambos have & thats exactly what draws you to the Viper. They are extremely rare too, in fact, rarer than Lambos in todays world!

The video above is showing it to be true to its animal brethren. Slithering around inspite of the monster grip those huuuge tyres generate. Slimy green colour to boot!

Here is a fantastic feature every Viper fan should read. Has the original 94 Viper RT/10 & the recent 2009 Viper SRT10 - Viper Eats Viper
