That's easy - Tesla.

Question is, will he buy it from Tesla, or will his ego have prompted him to build an all electric self driving car himself?

These cars are becoming very popular amongst the youngtimer folks.

Here in Europe a good one, low-medium mileage could already fetch Euro 200.000 easily.

Having it owned by somebody like Jobs could easily push the price up considerable more than the $ 400.000,-- I would think. Although I never understood why anybody would pay more just because somebody famous owned the item.

Even so, these are gorgeous cars and are classics and collector items in the making already, with hugely inflated second hand prices already!

I am not sure if there is the above topic has been covered elsewhere, but it struck me that (with the permission of the mods) it would make an interesting thread - not just the usual maharaja Rolls-Bentleys etc, but cars of other celebrities as well. I could not find a similar thread elsewhere, so thought of starting one here.

I came across the following recently while surfing : a) https://barnfinds.com/ian-flemings-b...-r-type-found/

b) https://www.gullwingmotor.com/1953-b...ype-c-2495.htm

Apparently, Ian Fleming (the author of the James Bond spy yarns) had ordered the above Bentley R-type for his friend Ivar Bryce, who was said to be the inspiration for the character of Felix Leiter, the CIA spook & Bond's friend. The car won its class at the 1971 Concours d’Elegance and thereafter went into hiding in Hollywood

The car, the Bentley R-type Continental fast-back coupe of 1953 (below), was certainly one of the rarest & most elegant examples from this bespoke brand.

I hope other members too can contribute photos & write-ups of celebrity cars lost & found!

Another well-known exotic is the Pegaso Z102 ‘Cupola’ reputedly owned by President Trujillo of the Dominican Republic and also raced by his son in some international events. It disappeared from view in 1962 after Trujillo’s assassination in 1961 and surfaced again in the mid-80’s (see quote below).

Chassis: 0102 150 0121
The featured Pegaso is the second Z102 fitted with the so called 'Cupula' coupe bodywork by in-house coach-builder Enasa, and the only known survivor. Built by the factory the coupe body sports an unusually large and bulbous rear window, which resulted in the 'Cupula' nickname. The unique lines were penned by Spanish students, who were tasked to find out what a car would look like thirty years down the road. Finished in yellow with red wheels, the striking machine was displayed at the 1953 New York Auto Show before being sold to President Trujillo of the Dominican Republic. That's when it received its second nickname 'El Dominicano.' In 1954, it was campaigned in the Carrera Panamericana road race. Trujillo retained the car until his death in 1962 but it did not resurface until the mid-1980s when it joined Peter Kaus' formidable Rosso Bianco collection. At that time the car was painted an altogether more understated silver. In 2006, the Pegaso joined the Louwman Collection and between 2009 and 2015, it was completely restored to its original configuration. The work was ready in time for the 2015 Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este.

(As per Wikipedia :- The Trujillo era unfolded in a Caribbean environment that was particularly fertile for dictatorial regimes.[Note 4] In the countries of the Caribbean basin alone, his dictatorship was concurrent, in whole or in part, with those in Cuba, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Venezuela, and Haiti. In retrospect, the Trujillo dictatorship has been characterized as more exposed,[clarification needed] and more brutal than those that rose and fell around it.[9] Trujillo and his regime were responsible for many deaths, including between 12,000 and 35,000 in the infamous Parsley massacre.[3][4][5][Note 2][Note 3]
Trujillo's rule brought the country a great deal of stability and prosperity throughout his 31-year reign. The price, however, was high—civil liberties were non-existent and human rights violations were routine. Due to the longevity of Trujillo's rule, a detached evaluation of his legacy is difficult. Supporters of Trujillo claim that he reorganized both the state and the economy, and left vast infrastructure to the country. His detractors point to the brutality of his rule, and also claim that much of the country's wealth wound up in the hands of his family or close associates.”)

I came across this extra-ordinary nugget while surfing & I wasn't sure if it had appeared here in our forum earlier. It doesn’t directly relate to a celebrity, but it certainly is a lost & found story about a classic. And what a classic – nothing less than an original Ferrari Dino 246 GT, one of the rarest of the Dino’s, and the model which was originally named after the Commendatore’s son.

With your permission mods, I'll try & upload it here. It is almost beyond belief that a couple of school-boys digging for treasure in their back yard (I've done it with my cousins when we were small, but we never found a thing!) would come across an original Ferrari! - and no ordinary Ferrari either. They dug up an original & ultra rare Dino 246 GT, in almost perfect condition! Yes, I was just as skeptical, but do read on!

https://www.sliptalk.com/buried-ferrari/

I'm also attaching a few photos of the incident while the car was being dug up, and also a couple of photos after it was restored by the new owner.

But yes, I'm still skeptical and find it difficult to believe that such incidents actually do happen.

"David Brown's rusty old Aston sells for £200k at auction".

This was in the in-box this morning as part of a Pinterest post. The name David Brown piqued interest as most gearheads are familiar with the proprietor of Aston Martin during the James Bond era (after Bond graduated from war-era Bentleys to Aston Martins!:)) when the screen saw his DB5 for the first time. This though is the "1958 Aston Martin DB2/4 MkIII drophead and is no ordinary old car. It belonged to the legendary David Brown himself, the former Aston boss whose initials still grace the company's GTs to this day"
