Super Sexy all new 2011 Hyundai avante (elantra) revealed

Mod Note : Team-BHP's Official Hyundai Elantra review has been released at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the new thread. Thanks

Source: worldcarfans

Hyundai has unveiled the 2011 Elantra (aka the Avante) at the Busan Motor Show in South Korea.
Completely redesigned, the Elantra looks impressive. It wears a 'Fluidic Sculpture' design with four-door coupe styling, HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlights and LED taillights.
While no interior pictures were released, Hyundai says the cabin offers "advanced features not found on other compacts." Goodies include heated rear seats, ambient lighting, and a color TFT LCD information display.
Under the hood, the Elantra is powered by a 1.6-liter Gamma GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) four-cylinder engine with 140 PS (138 hp / 103 kW) and 133 lb-ft (167 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission, which enables the car to be "10 percent more fuel efficient than its closest competitors."
According to Steve S. Yang, President and CEO of Hyundai's Global Business Division, "The new Avante (Elantra) encompasses Hyundai's latest ambitions, featuring the best styling and performance in its class. We're confident that it will once again redefine the compact segment worldwide."
Korean sales will begin in the second half of 2010, with global availability shortly thereafter.

Press release

HYUNDAI UNVEILS ALL-NEW AVANTE AT BUSAN MOTOR SHOW 2010-04-29
  • World-premier of new Avante compact, Hyundai's global best-seller
  • Featuring 1.6L Gamma GDI engine, 6-speed automatic
Hyundai Motor Co. had its world-premier of the all-new Avante compact sedan, the company's best-selling model worldwide, at the Busan International Motor Show 2010 today.

"The new Avante encompasses Hyundai's latest ambitions, featuring the best styling and performance in its class," Steve S. Yang, President & CEO of Hyundai's Global Business Division, said at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO) today. "We're confident that it will once again redefine the compact segment worldwide."
With sportier and even more elegant lines than its predecessor, the new Avante badged as Elantra in markets outside Korea - continues Hyundai's ‘fluidic sculpture' design philosophy.

Hyundai has applied its latest 1.6L Gamma Gasoline Direct Injection engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission to the front-wheel drive compact, the first time GDI and six-speed automatic have been featured on a compact sedan in Korea. The new Avante delivers a peak output of 140ps and maximum torque of 17.0kg·m. It is also about 10 percent more fuel efficient than its closest competitors, thanks to GDI, the six speed automatic and other fuel economy enhancements.

The new Avante will delight and surprise with a raft of other advanced features not found on other compacts, including HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlamps, LED combination lamps in the rear, heated rear seats, puddle lamps and a color TFT LCD information display nestled in the gauge cluster.

Under the Avante/Elantra badge, Hyundai has sold over 6 million units worldwide since the car's launch in 1990. Hyundai will begin sales of the all-new Avante in the second half of 2010 in Korea.
At a separate commercial vehicle booth, Hyundai displayed a hydrogen fuel-cell electric bus and a Universe Limousine luxury coach, among other displays.

Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Hyundai is back with this car.

Sadly only in copying again - Honda & Chevrolet. The car looks like a baby born from the union of Civic & Cruze.

In my opinion front looks like modded Civic, and the rear like Mixture of Lexus/Jag/Tata Prima!!!

But overall looks like a good package!! and looks very nice.

Why do car launches have hot babes standing next to car? I fail to see the logic. Its definitely not that car will come with them as part of package. Also getting the car does not mean that you will get to put your hands on the lassies. So whats the point? Does it indicate the GOOD life one will have after buying the car???

Loved the shape of the tail-lights in particular.
I remember that I had liked the looks of Elantra when it was launched in India. At least it was not looking like anything else on the indian roads at that point of time. Somehow this reminds me of Civic from the front. And I guess that's the price-range Hyndai might be targetting.

In one word "Awesome". This marks the first appearance of Hyundai's hexagonal grille in a passenger car. The recently launched Tucson/ix35 had it. As if the already acheived growth across the globe is not enough, Hyundai will go places with this "Fluidic Sculpture" design theme. First came the Sonata (YF), then the Tucson/ix35 & Accent/Verna and now this Elantra/Avante. Come on man, when will this Hyundai juggernaut stop? All these models are so damn impressive.

My only grouse is whatever design Hyundai comes out with, people start calling it "Copy". Every manufacturer does it and why is this common hatred towards Hyundai alone? Even the above mentioned Cruze's taillights resembles that of the previous gen Hyundai Ellantra/Avante.

No interior pics?

Car really looks good. I have always beena fan of Hyundais.

As many have put it, from profile the car looks like a mix of the civic and the ANHC.

But, hyundai is definitely changing the image of its cars and it truly is a beauty including the new killler lookiing outside-inside Sonata

wow!! Can't believe this is a Hyundai! I am loving Hyundai's new design language which is all coupe like with beautiful curves all round. It started with the Sonata, then Verna and now this, the Elantra. Why is Hyundai taking so much time to launch all these cars in India!?!

Amazing !!! Hyundai designs seem to be getting better and better, and their pricing also seems to be getting pricier and pricier.

Hope to see this launched in India soon. They really need some new launches to replace the current Accent/Verna, and Elantra/Sonata in India.
