Volkswagen Cross Polo

The offroader version of Polo, Cross Polo, is available in Germany from this month end (May 2010). Took some pictures of it when I visited VW Autostadt last week.

These are the engine options available with Cross Polo.
  • 1.2/70 PS Petrol
  • 1.4/85 PS Petrol (Manual & DSG)
  • 1.2 TSI/105 PS Petrol (Manual & DSG)
  • 1.6 TDI/75 PS Diesel
  • 1.6 TDI/90 PS Diesel (Manual & DSG)
  • 1.6 TDI/105 PS Diesel

Feature list remains the same as already available versions except for 15mm more ground clearance. The highlight of the edition is the modded exterior.

Wow is all I can say to this. Though would have loved to see it in white with red highlights. The wheels enhances the look of the car thoroughly

Are they Momo's by any chance

They are offering the Cross version on the Polo, Touran etc for some time now. Even on the Audi A4 wagon, you have a similar version (forgot what it's called, think it's Allroad Quattro), also for the Skoda Octavia wagon (Scout). From Fiat, you have the Fiat Panda Cross 4x4 for example.

From what the guy at Autostadt told me, cross polo basically offers looks. Upgraded suspensions are already available as option in other Polo versions.

But would be a nice design to do similar mods on the Indian Polo

You are right. But this cross version is for the new Polo (Polo V (Typ 6R)) which is available only now.

And here's the front view

Some more pics that I picked up from the VW website

Some more additions; please excuse my translation. The silver anodised roof rails can take a load of upto 75 kgs, adding functionality as well as looks. The automatic is a 7-speed dual-clutch DSG. We can only dream of this version of Polo coming to India.

I just wanted to point out that this is not a new path. I personally like the cross versions mentioned above and think that they will be a real boon for Indian conditions. But I don't think they are coming to India anytime in the near future

Very interesting car! Somehow I feel the claddings do not go as well as it worked with Palio (Adventure). It will be great if they can launch it here in India.

This looks amazing! But alas it would never come to India, and also if yes, would not priced low!

But a perfect blend vehicle, which can fill the slot that Yeti is trying to.

Yeti is much bigger. After all Yeti is based on Polo's bigger brother Golf.

I know, but pricing will be almost the same, if not a bit lower. If that happens, it would be ideal for Indian roads. But for that it has to come to India and that is long story! (May not be a story at all!)

indian city driving needs cars with good looking black bumpers like these.
that will help many car owners, who suffer the pain of having scratched bumpers due 2 wheelers.
