VW launches Polo Sedan in Russia

Volkswagen Launches Polo Sedan in Russia - Car and Driver Blog

Volkswagen has expanded the Polo line to include a sedan model it says was designed exclusively for the Russian market. Currently, the not-sold-in-the-U.S. Polo is available in three- or five-door hatchback configurations.
The Polo sedan comes with a 103-hp, 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The scaled-down Jetta styling isn’t hugely attractive—it frankly reminds us of the Nissan Versa. The car is affordable, though, at the equivalent of €10,000. The Polo hatchback starts at just over €12,000 in Germany.

VW says the car was specifically tailored for driving conditions in Russia: the Polo has suspension designed to handle crumbling roads as well as tougher, anti-rust paint coatings. Which means the car would also be perfect for the potholes and road salt of, say, Michigan. Speaking of which, Volkswagen’s U.S. plans may include bringing the Polo to America. If so, sedan and hatchback Polos would offer welcome competition to the Ford Fiesta once it arrives in U.S. dealerships.

********
Goes with what we have been seeing in the Indian market by way of disguised testers. Nothing new here. Interesting that they claim it was designed exclusively for the Russians. They're saying the same thing in Brazil, India and China too!

Is it the picture's aspect ratio or is the car as long as it looks?

For car advertisements, the pictures are just an indication. Got to see them in person.

@ Maruti, Tata etc...

THIS is how you make a hatch into a sedan. Watch, and learn. It won't hurt if you can make your functionally phenomenal but aesthetically crappy Manzas / Dzires a little more appealing to the eye.

+1 to that.

I second your thoughts.

Felt the rear looks like a rip off from the Linea.

Looks great, but 85% of it looks exactly same as Polo.
IMO Punto to Linea is the best conversion I have seen in this segment.

Rear does look like Linea, may be a PS job?

first let them learn how not to spoil a goodlooking hatch..

im referring to the Maruti designers who re-designed the updated Zen
and killed its jellybean characteristics.
