Hyundai has released a video where they challenge Mini to a race at Road Atlanta in July:

Now, it's a marketing triumph for Hyundai. Mini would be scratching it's heads now.

If they accept, they stand a chance of losing to the Hyundai Genesis Coupe which has matched the abilities and in some cases, beaten the likes of Mustang, Camaro & Challenger in quite a few comparison tests. If they don't accept, Hyundai would go gaga again in marketing that.

Mini has paid a price for challenging "Porsche", widely regarded as the company which makes the best handling cars in the world.

The Genesis will leave the Cooper S to bite the dust, unless the whole thing is doctored in the Mini's favor.

Totally agree. I can't really understand why people are baying for H's blood?

What I meant was H does not have the baggage of the "Mini Cooper" tag to live up to. And hey, I drive a H too, and am proud of it!

Things have backfired for Mini. First Porsche refused, now they have been challenged by Hyundai. Check this thread: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/intern...challenge.html

Dying to hear Mini's response

Now i really want to hear Mini's response to the Hyundai's Challenge. Hyundai are also pretty serious, they trust the genesis coupe a lot. And why wouldn't they, it just beat almost all the powerhouse local brands in US, Mustang, Camaro and Challenger out of no where.

Oh man, what have Mini got themselves into ???

And Hyundai, way to go guys . You're rocking

In the over-hyped and ridiculous contrived "race" between the Mini Cooper and the Porsche 911, a victor has been crowned, and as you'd expect, despite creating a "track" at the infield of Road Atlanta designed to maximize the Mini's potential and neuter the high-speed prowess of the Porsche, the Cooper still lost the battle by a full two seconds.
Maybe Mini should've reconsidered Hyundai's offer...

I wonder what Mini have tried to prove here. They have lost by a good 2 seconds. For all you know, they're probably targeting existing Porsche owners who are looking for a good second car that they'd prefer to take to the shops.
