the veyron set off at this point ... reaching 200 mph at the SAME time as the mclaren. so much for accelaration huh ??
its rather difficult to fathom really.

veyron top speed is est to be be 410kmph ... evn if its not ... it would be substantially faster than the mclaren F1
How about this...

McLaren F1: 6064cc V12 - Veyron: 7993cc W16
McLaren F1: Naturally aspirated - Veyron: 4 Turbos
McLaren F1: 627 bhp - Veyron: 1001bhp

Now imagine if Mclaren was given an extraordinary budget, seven years and four turbochargers. I think we'd have the closest thing to God.

I admit both cars are iconic. However, one made it's footprint forever, while the other will tend to always remain in its shadows. It's for you to decide which one is which.

Hint...McLaren F1 rules.

It is wrong to compare the two cars.

Mclaren never had top speed in mind when they made the F1.

In fact, Gordon Murray originally only wanted 550 bhp from BMW's V12 design. But because they had slightly exceeded the maximum weight he prescribed, BMW provided more power than he had prescribed. That was one of the few compromises he made during the developement of the F1......

Wheras as far as the Veyron was concerned, top speed was one of the main points of building the thing in the first place......and it is a towering acheivement whatever one might say.....it would have been the easiest thing to mention 'other projects' (like PAG did with the still jag F-type), and abandon the whole thing, but they went ahead and strove to develop it so far, and must be given a standing ovation for their feat.

The cars are mighty acheivements in their own rights, and must not be compared unnecesarily.

Well said Mate! Although the Veyron is faster than the McLaren F1, the McLaren F1 is truly iconic and will remain engraved in the books of history . I have seen this car in real and the experience will remain tatooed in my memory.

the thread is about the fastest car and not the quickest car hence i dont understand what you people are arguing and thinking somuch about.its undoubtedly the jet powerd car of the castrol team that broke the sound barrier that currently holds the tittle of the fastest car on earth witht the topmost landspeed record.

Worlds fastest car no longer the veyron (Barabus TKR)

http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/07/...s-fastest-car/
Brabus unveiled the TKR, 1005BHP car which does 0-60mph(0-96kmph) in 1.67 sec and top speed is 270mph

The good part is the affordability. It will cost less than 500,000$ as opposed to veyrons 1.3mil

yikes, why no originality?

and 360k pounds, man thats talking high for themselves trying to get into Pagani Zonda F category...

anyhow it seems like they borowed the design from Saleen and threw in a really beefed up engine, lets see how it does over all on track and on a drag strip and would like to see the 1.67sec pull..anyhow its not really original looking..i much rather have the Saleen S7 TT for 555k USD..

Actually it may be a figure thrown out of the hat to get investers.
Barabus is in dire straits(Its not brabus, the merc chaps) and they really want to get some money in the company. In comes this bombshell. Veyron fun at zonda price. If they dont get money, this will be vaporware

Ascari KZ1 meets Invicta S1 meets Saleen S7 meets Bugatti Veyron. What's going on? The end result sounds great, looks to be worth around £100k.

I think whenever someone decides to make their own supercar, they should make sure that before the engine and performance and handling and comfort stuff, IT HAS TO LOOK GOOD.

Whats the point of a capable supercar if it's looks dont move you? Especially when it is some small manufacturer whose fate depends on the car's sales, and who has no brand cachet to sell the car with??

This car looks just plain ugly. And remember, looks will be a major turnoff.

First, make sure it looks good. THEN go to the other aspects. Even if they are not good, the car will probably sell on its looks alone, if you have spent enough time making it look good.

Actually, the Veyron isn't yet the fastest production car. It still needs to be officially tested.

Same story with the Brabus. I don't think this has been officially tested as well, so can't say for sure if it'l actually hit 270mph. And with the 1250bhp Veyron coming out soon, things could get even closer.

Looking at the pictures of the car in the press release, I wouldn't really want to do 270MPH in that!

Though the 0-60 time seems amazing!!
