Very sad!
That car is a technlogical wonder. It's just the badge that's not got the snob value of say, a Mercedes.

Yeah, it does nearly 200 mph!!!! And I love the story of how Ferdinand Piech set them those crazy targets to build this car.

I wouldn't lose out on any commission Ajmat . Our dealership doesn't carry the Phaeton.

but come to think of it, I wouldn't buy a Phaeton over the Mercedes if they are priced the same. When you are spending that kind of money, the brand matters a lot.
But the car the whole of North America is waiting for is the Eos. Damn, I want to drive that car!

Default Audi A8 = Volkswagen Phaeton

the Volkswagen Phaeton was introduced in a market where the Audi A8 does reasonably well and has a dedicated following.
it is the same car, and even though a number people were aware of this, they were reluctant to go in for it and preferred the better (a proven luxury segment) badge.

base prices from their respective websites for North America:
Audi A8 (V8) - $68,130
Audi A8 L (V8) - $72,090
Volkswagen Phaeton (V8) - $66,700

Audi A8 L (W12) - $1,18,190
Volkswagen Phaeton (W12) - $96,600

there isn't a huge price difference in the 8-cylinder models - which is the bigger seller, in any case.
