just received this 2 pic mail of Chinese Honda city 1.8. Its the same 1.8 that powers our civic.

1.8 In ANHC? Man it must be a rocket. Between what is the the power output? Is power/torque figures same as ongoing civic in India?

What is so surprising? The ANHC is sold with the R18 in many countries. It probably bolts on directly to the chassis without any modifications.

If ANHC was sold in India with 1.8 with same price as 1.5, i feel no one would have complained ANHC being over priced :)

Unfortunately, knowing Honda, if they released the 1.8 in the ANHC here, they'd be quite pompous in thinking they can price it at Rs 15 lakhs !

My first reaction was: when is it being released in India? And then I went: cool scoop, have I missed it?
And then I read that its from China
:o(
Why can't this be sold in India?

Oh! Dear Sid, we are on the verge of booking a ANHC, please confirm whether this can be expected here in India? Also, this version comes with ACC, which looks really cool. Advantage it holds over Civic is the size, like its name suggests. Honda City has the perfect size for city both inside as well as outside, unlike Civic which may feel too big for certain roads.

1.8 anhc is ONLY sold in China and Taiwan with 140 ps. ACC and leather is standard only in 1.8 auto.
ASEAN version plus Australia and NZ get 1.5.
Some EU market ANHC get 1.4, a downsized version of this 1.5 for the tax benefits to engines below 1400 cc. it is rated at 100 ps. ACC is standard.
Latin american and south american versions have the same 1.5 i-vtec engine, capable on running on flex fuel. No, this will not come to india.

Also, FE is a very important part of the overall USP of the City with its target customer base. No way they would dilute that with a 1.8 engine.

It doesnt make sense for Honda to launch City 1.8 in India with civic 1.8 in the picture. Honda's are priced explicitly and such a car will have to compete with the likes of Cruze and Jetta.

We cant see this in India as City with 1.5 and civic with 1.8 is doing the honors for Honda India.

Wonder if Civic is sold in China ? If yes, then what CC ?

Civic is sold in China with the R18A at 140PS and a K20 derivative at 200BHP. There are different versions of the Civic because there are two Hondas in China, each partnered with a different local manufacturer. Only one of them makes the R18 City.
