The New Stratos is based on the guts of a Ferrari F430 and its bodywork is crafted completely from carbon fiber, allowing for a power-to-weight ratio of less than five pounds per horsepower and a 50:50 weight distribution.

Specs for the one-off Lancia Stratos revival are out and they are impressive. Under the carbon fiber body is shortened(by 20 cm) aluminum chassis from the Ferrari 430 Scuderia, and a 4.3-liter V8 tuned to 540 horsepower. Dry weight of this retro sports car is 1247 kg and it can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, to 200 km/h in 9.7 seconds while the top speed is 274 km/h. New Stratos is 1240 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2400 mm. Weight distribution is 44% front, 56% rear.

Power-to-weight ratio is an impressive 2.3kg/hp. Power is transfered to rear wheels via 6 speed sequential gearbox with mechanical variable differential (Drexler) Fast gear changes at less than 60 milliseconds.
Reportedly a limited production run of 25 units is planned for this one-off retro rocket, that was commissioned by Michael Stoschek, who runs the fifth-largest auto parts supplier in Germany.

So contrary to my speculation, this isn't a little sports-car that will compete with the likes of the Porsche Boxster and the BMW Z4. It's a full-on road ripping super-car!

And if those stats are true - 4.3 V8, 540 horses, 0-100 in 3.3, 0-200 in 9.7 - it will take apart the likes of any Lamborghini, Ferrari or Porsche off the line! I mean, 0-100 in 3.3 seconds is hyper-car territory and that's insane! But why use the, ahem, 'out-dated' engine from the old F430?

Anyway, the Stratos looks a million bucks! Absolutely fantastic! And it needs an equally fantastic exhaust note to go with it. And I hope it doesn't sound like the F430 or the Alfa 8C or the Maserati GranTurismo (although all of them do sound like the devil). It should have the trademark rough and rorty-rally-car noise! It needs to have its own sound!

And what is that? 25?! Why? Can't they make at least 500?

Doesn't the front end look like a masked / disguised SLS? Pay close attention to the headlamp shape and the "jaw"...

A few features that might get some people to stand up and take notice.

- 398 mm Carbon-fibre discs coupled with 6-pot calipers up front!
- 315/30 19" Dunlop rubber
- Free-flow Manifold with a sport-cat by Capristo
- 6-Speed sequential 'box with 60-millisecond shift-time! (Wish it came with a proper manual-stick)

louveee it. I love small companies that make resilient cars . I love the spirit of the cars. I have always have grown up seeing the stratos and the quattro kicking dirt. Love this come back
