It doesn't actually. The Veyron can probably match an F1 car uptil 60mph (and thats only bcoz the F1 car doesn't produce enuf downforce for the tyres to grip). Beyond that, the F1 car shoots past, like a rocket.

An F1 car can do a 0-160-0 (kmph) in 5 secs. The Veyron takes 5 secs, just to hit 160kmph.

530bhp/ton vs 1500bhp/ton.........no competition!!!

Found this on the net. It's a vid clip of the Veyron being driven on public roads, then taken to a track for a power launch (smoking all 4 tyres), a high speed fly by and at the end, Clarkson jumps into the car for a 0-210kmph ride (done in around 7.3-7.5 secs).

Simply brilliant!!...JC at his best. All you guys arguying over JC vs people should read this article. People love him for his good parts rather than the bad ones. I liked the france and coconut part.

3. car would go till 231mph with ignition key on normal and 250mph when you have key in teh slot on floor! ( was he joking? )

at 231 MPH do you think ANYONE is capable of taking the eyes of the road, take the ignition key out and put it in the FLOOR slot ???? isnt that something 'suicidal ?

AC - Probably it wasnt explained well.

The Veyron requires a change in aerodynamics (less wind resistance) to achieve a 20 mph increase in top speed. Therefore, you have to STOP the car, change the aerodynamic settings by inserting the ignition key into a separate slot and then do your top speed run.

Its not a procedure that can be done at 231 mph.

I read another article about the veyron in "The Car"
Actually Veyron gets just 1000hp at the wheels. The engine makes 4000hp. With this kind of power you can light up 25000 lightbulbs. this machine can act as a generator for a small town.

Why didn't JC mention the stories about no one being able to produce tyres that could manage 1000hp? I dont think it'll be more than 1-1.5s quicker than the MC12 which currently heads the TG time-charts (if i remember correctly)...provided it indeed is faster round a track as opposed to being just a speed demon. I am going to reserve my opinions on the car until i see it performing on a track. Couldn't give a damn abt top speed!

The Car Mag guy was saying 4000. 1000 is needed by cooling system 1000 needed by blah blah, I will post the exact figures he was raving about in the evening. Its in the Dec Car

400bhp/ltr in a production car? Very unlikely. Yes it has been mentioned but, very hard to believe.

Its an 8 litre car, not 10 litre. Make that 500 bhp/ltr.
