As a BMW owner, I must admit that BMW engines dont sound all that hot. I paid an arm and a leg to get a dinan exhaust on my car and it barely tweaked up the sound, power gain were sweet though. And the new M5 sounds like a truck at idle! Its something about the physics behind the shape of the V10, that makes them sound wierd, something like odd number of cylinders on each side, read a post on it once. The viper also demonstrates this. Some V-8's sound pretty nice, and few V-12 are simply awesome, but I cant think of a BMW engine that sounds as mean and powerful as some of the AMG's I've driven.
