Hey guys

Saw an impressive full-page, full-color glossy ad in the papers this morning for a rather spectacular looking S-Class stretch. The ad carried the legend DCStar, with the DC part looking like that of India's self-crowned king of auto design.

This was a teaser ad leading up to the Middle East Motor Show that starts tomorrow. Any idea of this is indeed DC Design at work?

Anyone coming down from India for the show? There's a MONSTER CAR AUDIO section that's been very loudly advertised as well - I was thinking a certain Kapasi would be around...

Yea DC has collabrated with Exim Star in Dubai.

DC is in the process of streching a W221 merc. Mercedes do not allow modified cars to be sold bearing its star emblem - witness the Binz and other conversions

Ya DC is one of the exhibitors at the Middle East Motor Show. Check this link : http://www.dubaimotorshow.com/exhibitors/index.html

How can Mercedes dictate what owners do after buying the car? By "not allowing", what legal standing do they have? I can understand them exercising muscle with modifiers like Brabus etc. But who is to stop a DC or any other modifier to sell a modded Merc with the logo?

Right on, there is no such law in any country that will help them. Only thing they can do is refuse warranty and prevent their dealers from selling these brand new limos. They have an inhouse limo division...which hates competetion.

Something like most hotels not allowing "Outside food to be eaten inside". I feel they do not allow extremely modded Mercs (which could void the warranty) to be sold as Mercedes. Could spoil the name of Mercedes if anything goes wrong. Thats why I guess Carlsson and Kleeman use their own logo instead of the Star.

Well, thats nothing exclusive to Mercedes then. Any car company will void the warranty with extensive modifications.

Guys Check out the website www.dcdesign.co.in and two cars are displayed on the home page. The S-Class stretch and a Porsche Cayenne Two-Door

I LIKE that Cayenne!!! Gotta see them in the flesh - tomorrow.

He's picked the right market to venture into high-end vehicles....I bet we'll soon be seeing more of these on the roads here. Especially the Cayenne !
