well my friend you have to ask that question to the guys at BMW, not me!

the trunk/boot lid in the photos is a conventional BMW angled/slanted, and not the pickup type!

please note the FALSE B pillar in this photo.

Re: BMW M3 pick-up!! Really??

i dont think it has come out of BMW's workshops.
Even a skunkworks edition would have done some body work to disguise/modify the B-pillar and rear screen.
Looks more like someone had a night out with an angle grinder.

Re: BMW M3 pick-up!! Really??

If thats coming, its on my wishlist (once i have a proper sedan ). Looks hot but i dont think it makes sense in India if its just going to have the same GC. Its pointless to make it "look" like a car!

Re: BMW M3 pick-up!! Really??

I don't know why but have a feeling that this is just some ones very realistic rendering skills put to practice.

Other than that, There is no point in having a M3 Pickup.
M5 would have been a better optioin.

Re: BMW M3 pick-up!! Really??

I don't know , but there's something really fishy about this ! Pickup ? And even for a pickup , it doesn't look proportional !

Re: BMW M3 pick-up!! Really??

The two places i can see a ready market for this is South Africa and Australia.
But the Germans 3 aren't especially known for customising a special model for different markets.

Re: BMW M3 pick-up!! Really??

Looks like someone bought an M3 and cut it down to look like a truck. Even some convertibles by manufacturers are done that way and this here should be better with the B pillar still in place!

Re: BMW M3 pick-up!! Really??

imagine one overloaded M3 driving down the slow lane at 100KPH will you pull out the camera to shoot a pic and post it in the super-TRUCK thread for your city?

I have a feeling that it is photoshopped. the tail gate / bootlid looks fishy.

Re: BMW M3 pick-up!! Really??

looked around.
Unfortunately, this does exist.....
Its actually a dedicated vehicle for carrying around itsy-bitsies on the track for some team of mootrcyclists.
never leaves the ring.

Re: BMW M3 pick-up!! Really??

Looking at the wheel wells, it does not seem to have good capacity to carry loads. However if this is produced, lot of those who don't need a pickup will end up buying one

However I might try not to digest the idea, the more alarmingly real it looks!

Re: BMW M3 pick-up!! Really??

The pictures have either been photo-shopped very, very well; or the R&D blokes at BMW have been smoking something horrid.

If it's the latter, then the Aussies, with their Maloos, finally have some competition!

But I still don't get it. Isn't there a new 3-Series/M3 in the pipeline? If so, then why would BMW be wasting time with this? In all probability, this could be a test mule for some thing else. Perhaps, the new 3-Series itself!

Re: BMW M3 pick-up!! Really??

Good news... Its not a production version as expected... They are building some pick ups for Redbull for promotion. They are just testing out the car in the pics. Dont know if you are aware but mini use to be their previous promotion car with the huge can of redbull on the back. They just decided to replace the mini with the m3. Now we will see hugh can of redbull on an M3..
