This shows how much the Australian car industry has changed over the last few years.
The king of sales for so many years, the large Commodore, is now in a lowly 6th place. But an interesting fact is that almost one-third of the Commodores sold nowadays are for the 6.0 Litre V8 versions as against the standard 3.6 Litre V6.
What is saddening is that the large Ford Falcon (4.0 Litre 6 cyl), which used to compete neck & neck with the Commodore 10 years ago, has almost disappeared off the market, with the Ford factory closing this year.
Also interesting is the rise of the large "utes" (pickups) with 3 in the top 10 - Hilux, Ranger & Triton. What was once a humble tradesman's work vehicle has become a lifestyle vehicle with the dual cab 4x4 versions really popular, in spite of $50,000+ prices. Drive to office Mon-Fri & then go off road on weekends blah blah blah image!
The top sellers are all "small" cars (by Australian market nomenclature) - Corolla, Mazda 3, i30, Golf. The CX-5, based on the 3, is the most popular SUV.
