2011 Jeep concepts

Jeep and Mopar are planning to bring some new concepts to the upcoming 45th annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari in Utah on April 16

Pork Chop
which started out as a 2011 Wrangler Sport model and ended up without doors, top, tailgate, bumpers, carpet, sway bars and other items in order to reduce weight.
Jeep says the result is a weight savings of more than 850 lbs.

Jeep Wrangler Blue Crush
which is said to combine “high-speed off-road racing and rock-crawling capability.”
The high-riding Wrangler packs a Mopar 426 cubic-inch HEMI V8 with 540 horsepower that is paired with a 545RFE performance transmission and a gear-drive transfer-case.

which is based on the built-for-export 2011 Cherokee (called Liberty in the States) and features a 2.8-liter CRD 4-cylinder turbo diesel and Select-Trac II 4x4 system.

The Compass Canyon

The Mopar team also brought along the recently facelifted Jeep Compass equipped with Freedom Drive II drive-train.
The Compass Canyon show model is equipped with select items from the Mopar catalog including a cold-air induction kit, cat-back exhaust system, slush mats and a sport pedal trim kit

Renegade

which sports the Chrysler Group’s new 475 horsepower, 6.4-liter HEMI V8 mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
Mopar fitted the Wrangler with a variety of items such as a heat dissipating hood, a new winch-mount front bumper, fuel door, sill guards, bikini top, rock rails, slush mats and a half-door kit.

Jeep Wrangler JK-8 Independence
D.I.Y. JK pickup kit

Taking cues from the popular Jeep Scrambler CJ-8 from the 1980’s, Mopar has designed a kit for do-it-yourself that converts a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited into a pickup truck. The bed length is 50 inches and the width between wheel wells is 44 inches. The team created body panels to cover the second-row entrance and removed all of the interior parts behind the front seats—transforming the vehicle into a two-seater with just enough room for gear inside, and a pickup style bed to be used for outside cargo.

The JK-8 drive-train is fitted with a Mopar/Dynatrac ProRock 44 front axle and stock Dana 44 rear axle, both spun with 4.88 gears. Linking the axles to the frame is a 4.5-inch long-arm suspension kit and 37-inch BF Goodrich Mud Terrain KM2 tires make the connection to the ground. A fresh coat of yellow paint and Mopar’s off-road bumpers for the front and rear were utilized along with a new fuel door and slush mats.

The JK-8 kit includes bed floor, inner/outer body panels, half hard top (works with Freedom Top panels), and a new bulkhead.

Thanks for sharing. The Cherokee Overland looks well suited to Indian needs. If only they brought it over!

Re: 2011 Jeep concepts

After looking at this ( Jeep Renegade) I feel like puking on the THAR.

M&M have the facilities, manpower, design team to churn out something like this. God know why they don't do something like this.

Just imagine if M&M had done something so radical as the Renegade to the THAR, what they could have achieved.!

You are right Prithvi, M&M have all the tools to produce similar high quality products. Just a mindset problem, I guess the quality gene is absent in our DNA.

My thoughts about M&M, based on what we have seen from them in the past:
1. They may have most of the facilities, manpower, design team etc. to create this type of vehicle. They DO NOT have the vision, or the passion required to do this.
2. They do not spend enough on R&D. They try to make mash-ups of existing parts and platforms and come out with a new product with very little investment.
3. Their sales and distribution channels, can never support such product lines. Heck, their sales staff don't even know all the model variants that the company can produce, and don't understand the reasons behind many of the vehicle features.
4. Even if they got the first 3 points right, the last thing that would let M&M down, is greed. You can bet that they will price this type of vehicle at 20 Lakhs and thereby kill it immediately. The Thar, Bolero, Scorpio, Xylo are all cases in point. They all lack the features and quality levels to justify the pricing.

MODS please delete this post, if you feel this is OFF TOPIC.

Re: 2011 Jeep concepts

Man, what a Pork Chop and Blue Crush. But maybe not good to maintain on Indian roads.

Hope Jeep brings over Overland and Compass Canyon to Indian roads. But I guess that would be far fetched imagination and only maybe seen through some imports.

Re: 2011 Jeep concepts

Wow!!! The beast collection.
BTW why the poor machine Cherokee Overland was left without alloys?
IMO it looks good with alloy wheels.

Waw, nice quick touchup. Would it not look good with Canyon or Renegade's alloys?

i think they wanted a simple look.

today the alloys have become too common , the simple stamped steel wheel looks way better. (IMO)

these wheel rims are replica of WWll jeep rims.
