TATA- Williams F1's new sponsors

this is great news!! Tata are sponsoring williams F1 team and Narain as their test/fourth driver.

The WilliamsF1 Team today announced a major new sponsorship association with Tata, one of India’s most successful multi-disciplinary commercial conglomerates. The partnership will see the Tata brand displayed on the FW28’s nose, the drivers’ helmets and overalls, as well as on various locations across the team environment.

Yeah...in return for making NK do the dirty job away from the racing weekends, they get to put their logo on the Williams nose.

Not worth it. NK should've just gone into A1....his ex-racing colleague Alex Yoong seems to be doing much better there than in F1.

Boy, they got prime position right on the nose! Good job by Tata offering support to Narain.

I think the exposure, knowledge base and training gained with a top teams testing division is better than a race position at the end of the pile.

The best part of being test driver is, if you screw things up less number of people notice. Also many top level drivers have done testing job for a complete year. Including current F1 champion Fernando Alonso

exactly! And its not like his perfoirmance on test-days will go totally unnoticed. If he can match Wurz in testing, he could get the race seat in 2007 if Rosberg turns out to be a disappointment. Plus, NK could very impress other teams and land a drive else where.

2006 will decide if NK is a capable race driver or if he will be condemned to testing for the rest of his career. Either, it'd be better for him to remain in F1 rather than seek a drive in the lower formulas.

It is atleast good that he got a chance to remain a part of F1.if he had gone out of F1 his return would have beeen very difficult.

But there are reports that he can gat a Friday drive after 3-4 GP's.This is were he can make or lose his impression.

I can understand paying for a race seat, but paying for a 4th test driver is a little too much. Good for Narian but as a 4th driver he's never going to be on TV (wihch means other team managers cant see him). Just be lucky if you even hear of him in the news. I hope this can translate into something better for next year.

He'll be seen by the team-managers on the test circuits...but yes not much on TV....unless he gets to drive on fridays on some weekends.

Good bargaining job by Tata. That logo on the nose, sure made me feel good.
NK as 4th driver in F1 is better than podium finishes in A1. I think he will be fielded on Fridays in Asian countries and Wurz in european countries.

TATA are taking F1 in a big way since Narain stepped in. He did do very well for Jordan last year but he'll have to do a lot more this time if he wants to stay and race for Williams.
