Woke up to the news that F1 coverage is going to Sky TV in UK for 2012. The coverage will be shared with BBC who will only show half the races.
AFAIK StarSports gets the coverage feed from BBC, so am wondering what will happen for the 2012 coverage in India??

Star Sports most certainly does not get coverage from BBC. The programming is completely different. That said, the actual race programming is at the discretion of the regional directors where the race is taking place so all broadcasts are actually the same.

the Indian coverage will not be affected, however the awesome BBC telecast will surely be missed.

isnt that just going to affect UK viewers?
In india itll probably be easier for tatasky people(like only big gets the love channel)
Whats the relevance for us?

Since Murdoch owns both Star Sports and Sky Sports, I hope they use the same commentary team for the UK coverage of Sky Sports. I would love to see how many races Steve Slater would survive in the UK :D .

No change for Indian viewers at all. Ours is an incredibly price sensitive market, and F1 is yet a niche sport in terms of viewership. Any additional charges will kill F1 in India.

Personally though, I'm willing to pay good money if we get BBC coverage as an option. Anything to run away from the horrible commentary of Slater.

I would subscribe to it only if they offer it in HD for a reasonable amount :D

Looks like Videocon DTH will telecast the next GP in HD?

Sad that TSky probably won't.

Yes, Tata Sky should at least offer the F1 races as pay per view events in HD.

Won't make any difference to us since we never had it free-to-air. I remember Ten Sports airing a few GPs a few years ago without any commentary (Just the race with sound), but Ten Sports is not free-to-air either.

I hope Sky ends up hiring Martin Brundle and then shows the live feed on the net.

Long back (early 2000s) even DD2 used to air few races (particularly European races). I think it was stopped because of tobacco branding in races.
