Re: 2011 Formula 1 Airtel Grand Prix Of India

I feel very sad for Chandhok, I wish he could race.

Any idea why he isn't allowed to? I mean of course he is still unfamiliar with the Lotus and it's in best interest of the team to not put him in the car, but how can Lotus not capitalize on making history with an Indian driver in India?

What exactly is Chandhok not good at?He proved himself in the HRT, did a bit better than Senna! I think Chandhok will provide sustainability for F1 in the Indian subcontinent along with Karthikeyan. *sigh*.only if Jarno would get out of F1.

Speed ?

Jarno might be old but he is still waay better than Chandok. And if teams started changing drivers just because they are racing in a particular country, imagine how many times we would be having new drivers when F1 goes to China, Malaysia, Turkey, Korea etc. I would prefer an Indian driver racing in F1 on merit rather than coz of his country or sponsors.

Re: 2011 Formula 1 Airtel Grand Prix Of India

The 2 Force Indias have looked good in practice. It would be awesome if both cars were to sneak into Q3. Otherwise, the usual suspects look strong around the Buddh circuit. Also worth mentioning how reliable the top 3 teams have been all season. Not too many retirements.

There, I hope I have jinxed it! Not another Vettel-and-the-rest show again!

Re: 2011 Formula 1 Airtel Grand Prix Of India

Congrats India.
Practice went well.
Qualifying going well.
All the best for the Race.

I dont know about others but it was quite moving to see few drivers wearing the #58 as tribute to Marco. Waiting to see Trulli's #58 tribute helmet.

Vettel Lovely tribute helmet to his team for the championship.

Whats on the nose of the Sahara Force India Cars!?

Re: 2011 Formula 1 Airtel Grand Prix Of India

Not really Hamilton. Only on paper. He will be P5 on the grid tomorrow.

Its Red Bull on the front row for the GP of India!

Sebastian Vettel & Red Bull-Renault are on a path of setting record after records now.

This was the team which was bottom of the pile few years back.

Kudos to Red Bull team

Re: 2011 Formula 1 Airtel Grand Prix Of India

Force India were concerned about Sauber, but it looks like Toro Rosso could be the bigger danger.
Vettel once more on pole

Re: 2011 Formula 1 Airtel Grand Prix Of India

The track looks gorgeous, especially in HD. Dust does seem to be a minor issue, but that is something the teams are used to in Bahrain and Abu Dhabi.

Pity, Di Resta could not break into the top 10. Going for just the one timed lap in Q2 might have cost them. Whats more, Torro Rosso have saved a set of tyres as well, opting not to go out in Q3. Sutil seems to be in a good position. Let us pray he can capitalise on it!

Re: 2011 Formula 1 Airtel Grand Prix Of India

One more driver penalized for Indian GP - Narain Karthikeyan will get a five-place grid penalty for impeding Michael Schumacher during qualifying.

Agreed , but how many seconds does Trulli shave off of Chandhok?

Re: 2011 Formula 1 Airtel Grand Prix Of India

Massa hit a huge inner kerb at turn 8 that snapped his suspension. It was almost like a speed breaker mid corner, and I thought speed breakers were only that high in bangalore. Turn 8 is a high speed corner at 215kmph. If you try and take too much kerb you will hit this higher inner kerb seen in orange.

Somehow the kerbs don't look right to me at BIC. The paint is peeling off whenever a car goes over it. The close up shots on TV show red and white pieces in the air whenever a car flies over the kerb. More over the grass run off looks like there's a lot of dirt. There's huge puffs of dust and the whole tracks covered in dirt whenever car goes wide on exits of turns.

In some places there's no grass but green paint over dirt and it also looks in some sections they have put a green carpet over the dirt instead of grass.

If a car runs wide and throws up this much dirt it will be unsafe in the race when another car is following close behind.

Re: 2011 Formula 1 Airtel Grand Prix Of India

I was there yesterday and stupid me forgot to get a nice camera with me. But anyways I managed a few pics with my iphone, old 2gen. Here they are. Oh by the way it was epic, and I could only stand the sounds from those mean machines for 2 minutes and then the ear plugs came on

And then they had some really awesome beauties on display and I got them clicked as well, absolute drool material!
