Stepping out of the racing line while being lapped... anycar will be on marbles. That was really lame, if it was indeed said by Narain as a reason for coming back too quick!

The racing line is very important on a damp track, the lapping car has every right to be on the racing line while the lapped car should move and give enough space! Remember Alonso's comments post race on his strategy to defend Perez from fighting for the win, "Stay on the racing line thats the only dry portion of the track"!

Look at this objectively, as per the rules and the fact that there is a driver on the lead lap and a driver being lapped.
If it would have been a normal racing incident, I am sure there would not have been a penalty handed out.
The fact that he is being lapped changes things, that he is still racing others is inconsequential here ofcourse as nobody else is involved in this particular incident.

Guys looks like we did not revive this thread. How about complaining to ESPN about this? That guy is downright rubbish.

Well, the rumor is about a new Title Sponsor for the Lotus-Renault team and not technical partners!

Considering how good the Lotus is on this grid, they should get some good sponsors with a lot of cash really soon.

They are right there in the top group of 3-4 teams this year. I for one, hope they drop the Lotus name altogether. Firstly they do not have anything in common with the legendary Lotus team of yesteryear, secondly, now they're actually giving free coverage to a car manufacturer that abandoned them after the season has started citing financial reasons. This inspite of the team (I like to call them the erstwhile Renault team) coming up with the goods and delivering a fantastic car !

The first bit of news is out on the Lotus Renault discussions!

F1 : Genii Capital owned Formula 1 outfit to keep Lotus team name to at least 2017

Quote:
France's L'Equipe said the Genii owned team is currently in talks with a major North American company about becoming the new title sponsor.

Lotus lodges protest against Mercedes DRS!

Lotus lodges protest against Mercedes DRS!

Lotus has lodged a formal protest against the controversial Mercedes DRS system that the FIA has so far deemed legal.

A number of teams have been awaiting clarity on the innovative system which has seen Mercedes extremely competitive in qualifying when DRS usage is not limited. Though the FIA's Charlie Whiting has previously said he believes it to be completely legal, no official review had taken place. Now Lotus has lodged a protest and it will be down to Mercedes to prove the legality of the system.

A note from the clerk of the course reads:

"A protest has been lodged by Lotus F1 team concerning the Technical Delegate's scrutineering report (Document 5) of today's date regarding cars 7&8 relating to their conformity with Article 3.15 of the FIA F1 Technical Regulations.

The protest has been thrown out the window already and Lotus has decided not to appeal against the stewards decision. So what was all the fuss about?Maybe they wanted to get a little bit know-how on Merc's DRS

So far we have never witnessed if this set-up gives an EDGE to the Mercedes GP cars. But certainly there seems to be a potential gain. Which i feel, we will get to see in the coming races.

Let one of the Mercedes GP drivers go on the Podium then every team will erupt with the issue all over again.

Untill then, lets have fun..

But, What on earth are Red-Bulls trying to do.?

Was'nt that design not as per the rule-book for this year..?

Vettel to use older exhaust layout in practice for the Chinese Grand Prix - F1 news - AUTOSPORT.com

The exhaust layout is different from the exhaust blown diffuser.

The exhaust blown diffuser (EBD) is what is banned this year. What the EBD did was channel exhaust gases to the diffuser, producing a lot more extra downforce for the Red Bulls, which is why Vettel seemed to "stick" to the road on a lot of the tracks last year and churn out pole after pole.

Speaking of Mercedes 'super DRS', Brawn recently mentioned that the DRS system of the Mercedes is tough to copy for other teams especially if the chassis is not designed with this consideration (stalling front wing).

Will be interesting to see if any other team can come up with their own version of the 'double DRS'

Stumbled on this,

Did Ferrari order Sergio Perez to back off of Fernando Alonso in Malaysia?

Did Ferrari ask Sauber to slow Perez in Malaysia? again this can be a rumor.
