Ohhhhh, missed the date of the report. Now I know why Kimi is not there in the list. I'm pretty sure that if a poll is conducted among team bosses, Alonso will come on top again.

2010 Vettel was champion. But Alonso was voted on top.
I'm sure it will be the same for 2011. Cant find the link though.

2012 yet to happen. But I expect the same result.

My point being driver performance being looked at with respect to how quick the car was.

In 2011 Vettel was voted best driver (source) and Alonso ended up 3rd behind Button as well. In 2009 also Vettel was voted best driver (you can read that in the link that you posted) although he wasn't champion in 2009. Alonso was 4th.

Have to say that the above statistics support Vettel more than Alonso, considering Vettel won it by a big margin in 2009 and 2011 while Alonso won it in 2010 by just 9 points over Vettel. I'm not questioning the capability of either drivers but just my 2 cents.

I think it was quite evident that Fernando took the Ferrari to positions that the car just didnt deserve to be in. That car was definitely not worth 3 wins and 2 poles and 13 podiums.

All of the 24 drivers are not quite in the same level. There are some special ones definitely. The ones u mentioned in particular.

The next 4-5 years will be an all out shootout between the sport's top 3 -
Vettel, Alonso and Hamilton (Mercedes permitting)

Here are my own rankings of their abilities -

Consistency - FA, SV, LH
Speed - LH, SV, FA
Racecraft - FA, SV, LH
Mishandling car management - FA, SV, LH

I really don't think Haug moving out has anything to do with Lauda. IIRC, Lauda is associated with the F1 operations only. Haug is (was) the motorsport director at Mercedes of which the F1 operation is only one part.

Unlikely that somebody else with ability does not come up over that long a period, and you are forgetting Kimi.
